Jeez! What is up with the disabling of right clicks? Some sites I am surfing I am getting "security alerts" from Vista. Free sites disabling right clicks? You couldn't even begin to think of that if you wanted to create a free site in the straight market.

disabling right click isn't useful imho. You can bypass it really easily and some antivirus/privacy software can alert you if they find this kind of javascript

I think there are no way to stop alerts because of this kind of javascripts. It depends of what OS, antivirus, privacy software are you using and maybe something working today will not work tomorrow. The best is not to use this kind of "protection"

Ya was looking into this, but kind of think now I will go with this DMR or DMZ or what ever that thing is :)

Not going to 'LockDown' my current site, (have other plans for that) but do plan to for a future site maybe. Ya Ya I know all the 'rules' and that people do not like it, but............................................... .

I am having a bitch w/ Arles and creating pages of thumbs. It's tossing in some JS that browsers don't like.

Watch your rebills decline. But DRM doesn't protect images or the source code of your page Max. That was what I was talking about.

Oh well source code is somthing I would not mess with, anyone that can really read or use it can break just about any block :bang:

Protect Images? God watermark the fuckers and give them out Bro

some webmasters disable right click so no one can "steal" their sourcecode. the rest are trying to protect their pics.

wanna know something funny? most of the sites i see that disable right click have smaller pics than 90% of the sites i review. go figure!

Ya this is a BAD idea for free/avs sites or image content of ANY kind. I do not want to even use it on Full Reg movies LOL

Ugh! I am NOT trying to protect anything, except my sanity. When I surf link lists, I am getting security alerts.

Even the free counters like sextracker are triggering them. Pages that disable right click. Etc Etc. Even the new version of Arles is tossing in some JS that triggers these dang blasted things.

I don't even open my images in html pages. So no way really of protecting them.

To bypass no-right click, I just click the menu key next to the space bar on my laptop. Works on my other computer too. Try that.

Do security programs know that?

Going way back in time, circa 2001 - 2002, promising to use a right-click blocker was one of the surer ways to get paysite owners to issue a user and pass so you could use their content.

Since then, I've used a benign version to prevent navigation snafus - I work mostly in framesets and iframes, and you don't want "experienced" surfers opening frameset pages out of context.

I'm in the process of phasing it out, primarily because I'm also working away from frames more and more since future browsers will begin having problems with a lot of the tags and statements which make frames really work sweetly.

As far as warnings in Win Vista, LOTS of things set Vista off - which is something that's already been commented on in numerous reviews. Vista has a very "stupid" approach to security - either nag the user to death, or run in an "XP" mode with no warnings.

My feelings at the moment are mixed - I like that standards are being revised to make browsing more flexible, but I don't like it one bit that valuable attributes (like the good old "target=YADDA" statement) are being removed.

And, of course, I really would like the web better if there was only ONE browsing engine - don't really care which one, just want ONLY ONE.

Frames absolutely KILL my SEO.

I hate it and I think it makes the site look cheesy.

It'd be fine if it were the only way surfers had to save pictures because I'd say that the sites were trying to protect their copyright content. But when I can just drag a picture off the browser and into Photoshop, what is the point?

And as far as I'm concerned, if I bought a membership to your site, I should be able to save pictures. I shouldn't be allowed to distribute them, but why can't I save them?
