View Full Version : how picky are you when you order a design/toon?

i must admit that there are some things i'll compromise on - and some things i won't. and it sometimes seems like most designers / artists manage to find a way to do the "no compromise" stuff so i have to sort of remind them of stuff i already told them.

i don't get this. if i say i specifically want a toon with a smile or a page with 3 columns the size of which was mentioned in advance, why work harder by making something that doesn't have features i specifically asked for?

which leads me to the question that is the subject of this thread: if you get quality work but part of it is neither what you had in mind nor what you specified in writing, how far as you willing to compromise?

Never try to compare writers to designers hahahahahaha

I think it's a different part of the brain or something. Writers (even the bad ones) seem to methodically stick to the requests of a client while designers seem to do whatever they want... though in fairness the good designers often do a better job than the one they were asked to do.

When I order a toon etc I give a designer as much info about the SITE as I can and almost no info about the toon. Then I say "go make a toon for that." The results are great 90% of the time and its wayyyyy less frustrating.
