View Full Version : who here really checks their sites?

today i ran across something that i've run across before - a paysite that you couldn't join. i tried the join button in both ff and ie, then had someone else check it. no dice.

but in my time as a reviewer, i've run across 2 sites that had NO content at all - whoops! - and several new sites where none of the videos worked. i've also seen sites where main links - like the link to Models - didn't work. and you wouldn't believe how many sites, including those that do and don't use a cms, have a bunch of random missing thumbs from their video or pic listings or wrong links to downloadable videos.

and that's just the paysites.

i know some people rely on a script for this, but sometimes a script won't tell you if your links are white on a white page. and true - some people have many paysites and free sites, and it would take them forever. but how much potential income is being lost?

so... how many of you actually go through your sites one page at a time and check everything with your own eyes?

I see a lot of that as well when I do my reviews. Sites with misspellings in the header graphics, broken join links... really basic stuff that makes me wonder if the owner ever surfed his/her own site. Strange.

I try to, specially when I am adding or making changes, but in all honesty, I tend to slough it off at times, specially when it is a major revamp or something. I guess its being lazy in some respects, or maybe it is just that I check some, and figure that is good enough.

Not a good practice, one I have to work on improving. I hate when I do, because I always find some stupid coding errors, like forgetting a link or such. :bang:

We have that done inside our office every 10 days.

A couple days ago I realized I had a bunch of hosted banners on my tgp's that had incorrect linking codes. The program switched to nats in June of last year and something happened. My bad for not double checking. With 50+ sites it;s bound to happen every so often I guess.

sadly i am guilty of some of what you say there... i try and fix it whenever i see it but untill the CMS system i am having made comes online i will just fix the "worst" of them and leave it at that..

probably a shitty way to do it but the stuff that is left is just minor things so shouldnt bring down the overall impression too much.

we're in and out ALL the time and in three different browsers...

however, we only check on our macs - which means that we often don't know of problems (in the other platform) until somebody tells us...

we do check things all the time - but it is impossible for us to monitor everything as much as we'd like

and I refuse to duplicate all our programs for a new pc or even the DUO which I think is too expensive - its the first generation - next ones or even used will see reduced prices...
