I use Wordpress exclusively on my sites, but I am wondering, how many use other blogging software? I think Bjorn uses Movable Type, which seems to be the next in line to Wordpress in popularity, but which do you use, and why?
So a simple poll, any comments on what or why you use the one would be nice too, and oh yeah, the name of it, if not on the list. Like I haven't a clue how many blog software is even out there :bang:
I use wordpress almost exclusively. Why? Because it's VERY easy to install and just as easy to create/edit templates for it. There's also massive support from the enormous user base and literally piles of plugins.
I've tried a bunch of other solutions and IMO they're all rather cumbersome compared to WP

Wordpress. But from what I have heard Moveable Type is the way to go if you have a very high volume blog as I believe the pages are complied rather than dished out dynamically. Saves a lot of server resources.

Movable type is what i sue, very stable and robust but not free unfortunately.
wordpress is the best imho. Lots of plugins, easy to install and to manage, a great support community

Well certainly seems like Wordpress is walking away with this one.

Blogs Organizer (http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=likemind&page=http://bo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/) hands down, because it lets you do like 100 times the work for the same time, plus its centralized so if there is an update its just one file that you need to run and your whole network is updated.
Initially, I started out using Wordpress, but I now have all new blogs being built with Blog Organizer (http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=demonduck&page=http://bo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/), plus all of my prior blogs are setup through this script. It allows me to manage all of my rss feeds, setup specific trade lists, create custom links I can add with one click to posts, and all sorts of other things that make managing a huge blog empire doable.
Oh, and the other sweet thing ... I'm not updating plugins and new versions of the script every frickin 10 days or so with the blogs I build within Blog Organizer.

That is certainly an interesting program, does it allow for different themes on the various blogs, and the adding of different plug ins?

themes and plugins are very WP thinking, BO is simply a tool that auto updates any html page with your posts or rss feeds or link snippets or whatever you chose to update it with, on whatever schedule you chose. Its power is in its simplicity, and it handles all the pings and blogroll linkback checks and all other stuff that blogs normally do. You can customize it as much as you can customize any html page.

I just launched a 20+ blog wp network but in the future, all blogs will be bo blogs. Just seems a lot easier to use when it comes to a large (50+) network.

You can use wp-cache or super cache plugin to create static pages to speed WP up.

Why both? If BO does it all, why bother with anything else? Curious is all btw.

Well, they are both good for something each.
With wordpress there are plugins available to use to do those extra things you might want. Little more powerful.
And BO is good for affiliate hosted blogs. Its quick and easy interface for fast posting and adding blog after blog.

Kind of sounds like maybe BO would be something to use to replace making free sites. Interesting, have to look into it more. thanks.

Upgrades are easier 666 but maybe sluggish for the amount of traffic you draw..

Exactly :) ... Blog Organizer (http://http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=demonduck&page=http://bo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/) is a way to run a shitload of blogs that you either create posts for or setup a depository of available feeds and assign them with a click to whatever blog you wish. You setup how often to scan for new posts, how many posts to add to the blog, what time/day they should appear. You can write ad snippets that you can include with a single click. And on a very basic level, they're very much a "free site" that has become dynamic in nature.
You can also setup a "blog" that doesn't update ... perhaps it's just a page of gallery links, or whatever you want it to be, but still has the other trade list functions, snippet includes, etc as a blog that updates. Tip: once you create a new blog, and assign it a template ... just highlite and copy the "template" html you see for THAT specific blog into something like Dreamweaver, and customize it (layout, graphics, etc) all you want and just replace the code and do a "rebuild" of that site. You can also create and setup your own templates to select from for future blogs.
Also, if you run an affiliate program, you can purchase an Affiliate Module that you upload to your Blog Organizer (http://http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=demonduck&page=http://bo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/) and you then create blogs that have links that "read" your affiliate's link code, thereby adding RSS feed capability to your program.
And if you're looking beyond just blogs, then check into the Site Organizer (http://http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=demonduck&page=http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/so/) for other site style options, like tgps.
