some people seem to consider porn hardcore only if a penis enters an anus or vagina. others seem to consider porn hardcore if a solo guy is jacking off. after trying to sort through blogs and submissions, i thought i'd better ask for opinions.

what do YOU consider to be hardcore?

btw, i see i fucked up the third option on the poll. just consider it a fist OR cock.

Good question.

I think there are two answers though. One is the 'legal' response, in that anything inappropriate for a minor to view would have to be considered hardcore, thus an erect penis, would fall under being hardcore (http://www.gaydemon.com/dicktionary/hardcore/).

Then there is the 'surfer' response, in that they expect nudity, so an erect penis or blow job wouldn't be hardcore to them, so fucking and fetish sex acts would then be the hardcore stuff, jacking off or being sucked off the softcore stuff.

hardcore and explicit aren't the same thing, although most webmasters seem to use them interchangeably.

do you have sources showing that surfers don't consider blowjobs hardcore - surfer boards, blog comments, etc? i've definitely seen some surfer comments that show that at least some surfers consider blowjobs or other 2-guy stuff to be hardcore. although i wouldn't be surprised if some consider only fucking to be hard.

Your missing what I mean.

People looking for sex sites, expect nude pictures of guys hard, so their expectations of 'hardcore' would be more than in a strictly legal sense.

If you look at the definition used in a legal sense, hardcore is anything that depicts naked genitals, or sexual acts. yet I rather doubt that a person who wants to jerk off is gong to assume that a picture of a hard dick is hardcore.

Tricky question. I consider hardcore to have actual penetration of some sort. However, to me softcore is no action. Just nude shoot. Glamor style. So, I have no idea where solo j/o fits in.

I mean it's hard to say a guy pissing on himself (even not on his face) as softcore, but there is no actual penetration.

Hardcore for me is when there is some ass to mouth action, double fisting, or maybe pissing down another guys throat.

KIDDING.

I would say hardcore would be anything touching a penis, be it a hand, mouth, ass whatever. Just posing with a hard cock, I would consider that softcore.

You don't see the cock erect on paid cable because it's beyond softcore. Unless it's a fake cock covered. (hank getting a hard-on under his pants in Me, Myself and Irene, PeeWee with a hard-on under his sheets while sleeping in Porkys or Jim Jacking off into a sock in American Pie.

In public standards around most of the USA, a flaccid penis outline through clothing or bouncing bulge in jogging pants is jail worthy. (per the state to state obscenity laws I posted a few weeks ago)

My personal take on hardcore is when you "SEE" penetration -or- Masturbation with climax. I would almost go as far as to say most all masturbation outside of a 30 second clip within a larger story where the person masturbating is needed to advance the story (without climax seen)

A simple Erection would be fine if seen as part of a normal daily situation outside of sexual situations. (Morning erection/getting out of bed)

But my views are tainted by laws clearly pointing out erection/non erection exposure and public view.

Can I have an all of the above option? I say that the top 4 would all fall under hardcore.

IMO, 2 or more people involved in any sexual act is defined as hardcore.

Softcore - 1 or more person nude but with no overt sexual contact other than touching and kissing

Solo - any "normal" sexual act done by a single person

Hardcore - 2 or more people involved in "normal" sexual activity

Fetish - 1 or more person involved in "extreme" sexual actitvity such as bondage, pissing, fisting, inserting large or unusual objects, auto-fellatio, sounding, vacuum pumping, etc.

Extreme - The really nasty stuff!

It's hard for me to answer because I don't know whose definition you're after. I know a lot of people who believe that masturbation (including orgasm) is "softcore", but any penetration is "hardcore." I've heard a lot of others confuse "hardcore" with "explicit" as you said, even though 2257 doesn't use the word "hardcore" at all.

I generally don't use the word at all because, as far as I know, there's no agreement on what it means.

Hardcore, to me, is pretty much a hard dick. But that's based on television. A movie wouldn't be rated-R (17+) if it had a soft penis but if it had a hard penis then it would get rated-R. The musical Rent was almost rated-R because MiMi touched herself in a provocative way. It's really up to the person.

We consider any sort of visual penetration, whether oral, anal, fingers or with toys to be hardcore, as well as cum shots. Then there is some extreme hard core content that we do not even allow to be hosted on our servers, whether behind a member firewall or not.

So you're saying all of the above (not counting the don't know) as well.

I only think it's hardcore two ppl are involved and "touching" eachother. Anything solo to me isn't hardcore even with insertion. Solo sex is still just playing with yourself no matter how you look at it. :D

Hey Bec;
I'm not sure what you mean by the (not counting the don't know) portion in your question. If you mean something like two guys appearing to be having sex, but you cannot actually see the penetration, we would allow that.

I think Bec is in reference to the choices offered in the poll - the last option listed is "I'm really not sure what hardcore is.." -That's what I'm guessing the 'don't know' portion is.

this is a photo of us (Tony&Cam)

we are touching and we are seemingly "engaged" but we're not showing anything "graphic" to see...

so I'm assuming that we would fall into the general category of "homo-erotic 'ART' photography" with this particular photo which is not considered hard core...

btw - just in case you didn't already know, we've got lots of hard core too but we like the softer stuff too

This is an interesting question since one of my sites started out soft core, and still is in many people's opinions.

Originally my first site opened as peekaboo - either no penis or partially exposed flaccid penis. Naturally, while rubbing themselves, some of the guys became hard. I started allowing bits and pieces of their hard ons to show, or a quick flash of hard on at the end of a video and then fade to black. I received a lot of flack from members saying that they liked it better without the hard ons; that they were not there to see "hard core". From that context hard on = hard core.

My second site started with the full frontal content I wouldn't use on the first site - some flaccid, some hard. I was told that instead of opening a second site, I should have opened a second channel on my first site since they're both soft core. It wasn't until I started adding cum shots that people viewed the content as hard core.

Some of my guys are fine doing videos with hard ons and simulating masturbation so long as nothing enters or exits their bodies (no cum shots, no toys/fingers or anything anal) and they consider that soft core. Once something enters/exits their bodies, in their minds it crosses to hard core.

Personally, I think if there is a visible erection and there is a sexual act (either simulated or real), i.e., rubbing, stroking, playing with an erection, sucking, fucking (solo, duo or group), then I throw that in the hard core category.

If there is no visible erection, or the penis is visible but flaccid, I consider it soft core. Or if there is an erection, but no sexual stimulation (simulated or real), I would also consider that soft.

Hmm. Guess I just gave myself permission to show a whole lot more hard ons on my soft core site - hehehe

I was curious so I did a poll on my soft core site asking, "In general, at what point does pornographic content cross over from soft core to hard core?" These were the choices I gave my members and how they responded.

0% Any time a flaccid penis is shown
4% Any time an erection is shown
8% Simulation of masturbation without a cum shot
20% Solo anal insertion of toys (dildo, etc.) without a cum shot
32% Solo masturbation with a cum shot
12% Two or more people visibly performing oral without a cum shot
0% Two or more people visibly performing oral with a cum shot
4% Two or more people with visible penetration but no cum shot
20% Two or more people with visible penetration and a cum shot(s)

thanks, Drakerock - that's some interesting info there!
