the article is interesting, because the postponement is for something that has never been done before - the judge who was hearing the case is no longer a judge, and he's being replaced by the chief judge of the 9th circuit, which gives more importance to the case, i think.
what i think is scary is that if this guy's content is found obscene, it will set the stage for content that is a little less extreme to be found obscene and then the next step down. and l.a. has been a very open-minded community thus far. on the other hand, i think most people do find scat obscene. and while obscenity is in the eyes of the beholder, i know i prefer not to see scat.
i sure don't feel that scat - which violates health laws in many states - can be compared with a 30 year old guy jacking off, but do you think that getting this conviction will lead the way to obscenity prosecutions of more innocuous material?
