I've tried posting content on other tube sites with no luck. They claim to allow amateur content.. but my stuff apparently is too glossy for their tastes?! I find that hard to believe! Xtube seems to be more hands-off, but am open to ideas.

But, you can't post commercial videos on Xtube (no watermarks) unless you create a sponsor account and that ain't easy to get.

I would certainly allow your promotional videos on our site http://www.seemen.tv. Sign up for an account, I'll convert them to sponsor accounts and you can upload at your own pace. Traffic is building so we hope you will stay with us for the long term for a steady stream of long term clicks. And yes, please put your domain in your videos.

I'll be signing up as well! tube sites are getting our own feet wet with the new launch just a couple short weeks ago.
Not sure what the sponsor requirements are, but I'd also talk to AndyMike about putting up videos on www.rockettube.com

All you are doing is "feeding the beast". It starts out small...we'll just give'em a few teaser clips. Then when that starts slowing down, you have to start giving them longer and longer clips to get their attention. It's a never ending cycle that demands more and more until the consumer expects everything for free. Be careful...the beast will end up biting the hand that feeds it.

I couldnt agree more. Do please remember there are lots of other ways of promoting your site! Tube is not the only way.
Spruse up your site with some simple things like Good Meta titles, a bit of text and content to feed the search engines with.. a few good link exchanges and before you know it you got some good free Search engine traffic.

I did tgp for years and submitting to a tube is way easier, and the results have been better than with tgps.
I agree tube sucks, but the alternative is to buy traffic which is very expensive these days. I lways did awful with freesites and avs sites, I always lost money on them.So the best thing for a small guy like me to do is adapt with the times.
Large companies and successful sites can afford to spend $$$ on advertising. But for little guys like me thats not an option.

I have to agree with Max on this one.. the small guy has to step out of the box and work within your resources. For me, the tubes generate huge attention with so little effort. With running a 1-man show, marketing tends to rank lower behind photography, webdesign, scouting, R&D, etc!
The right amount of teaser material seems to be very effective. I notice bigger hits on each model page that matches up with the latest video posted. With over 300,000 tube-vid hits in just 2 short weeks, It's hard to think it's a bad thing. Using older footage that previously wasn't drawing attention has new life again out there in the tubes (in 1-2 minute teasers).
To be honest, its all still too early to tell. Running a website for 1 year now, and just opening it up to memberships in the last 3 weeks just doesn't give me enough accurate feedback yet to set in stone. Tapping into the easier, straight-forward sides of marketing is about the best options when you're short on time!

A five minute clip can be edited to show less action than a 2 minute clip. It gets 10 times the views and makes 10 times the sales. Believe it or not, surfers like the "interview" part of the movie. The interview sets the "fantasy", then the little bit of action you show gets them into the film enough to click and join.

That sounds like a great idea.. I have tons of lead-up footage I would leave out. Many times, the point at which I would re-edit a clip was for that priceless thumbnail xtube uses. It is created from a frame about 5secs into the clip. So I would make the impact at that moment catch the most eyes.
I think at this point.. one of my goals has been to hit the big lists, Top Favorites, etc. I've had 1 clip go viral within about 10 hours getting 50K+ views. I was asleep during all that, lol.. but woke up to find it had been pulled for copyright violations. (Ironic eh?!)
Right now, people are leering of material that is that typical 15secs (ad) or even below a minute. Most of the top favs are of decent length. Good advice buddy!
Getting that next viral clip is where I think some of the action is!
