When was the last time you backed up your...hard drive, server, computer, laptop, iPhone, etc.

Lucky for me, I backed mine up last Friday, hours before a hacker trashed our server.

I am now uploading from my backup external hard drive to my new host. If I had not had my backup, I would have been screwed, as the hosting company "lost" not only the server, but the backup server as well.

Just a friendly reminder to back your shit up today, before you are in the shit tomorrow.

Oh MAN! I lost two WD hard drives in one week. Now I autosync.

I ALWAYS have a copy of my server on two hd's! Always! Always! Always!

Our NatNet boxes have mirrored drives, and they back up on a regular basis.

The mirrored drives will protect against drive failure, but not against hacking, so backups are still crucial.

In house, we have RAID-5 arrays for our video storage (getting close to 6 terabytes now) and an SDLT tape drive that backs up the RAID.

I kind of knew that you "big boys" always back up your stuff, but I hope that some of the little people (like me) will take heart and do it today if they have not already done so.

I would have been royally screwed had I not had a backup. Funny thing was that it was you Chip that told me to do it, over a year ago, on another forum. :O) And I have at least once a week, ever since.

One thing I learned the hard way, with a nonadult site... never trust an ISP who claims to be backing up your site if you're on a shared server. It seems that every time I hear of a problem with a shared server going down, the backups are mysteriously "missing" or "bad"...

It sucks under any circumstances to have a server bite the dust, but I'm glad you had your own backup :)

we've got a lot of back-ups - got to, that's all there is to it - and there in a lot of different locations...

as a matter of fact, I was running an additional back-up last week, here at home on the central coast when, BINGO! - our local power supply (a large nuclear reactor) decided to go on 1/4 power...

has anyone ever been on 1/4 or 1/2 power where all the low voltage works at about half its normal draw the the big stuff won't work?

scary... I think Homer Simpson was on a donut break or something...

I always yell over there to the plant (like they can hear me 17 miles away...) "add another rod to the barbie guys... we're puttin' up some more porno over here..."

everyone thinks I'm nuts

You would almost have to be to live that close to a nuclear plant! :D
