View Full Version : Why Doesn't the Gay Porn Press Ever Verify Information?

I don't mind press - I'm generally indifferent about things published about us but when its wrong, I mind. Why? Because its almost impossible to fix erronius information.

The press never calls us to verify anything - never did, never will - and that always pisses me off! The only time they call is to try and sell me something...

How can the gay porn press be taken seriously when we, as the subjects of an article are never contacted and asked if the information is correct?

I don't get it!

What's the backstory on this?

I feel exactly the same way... but to be fair, mainstream press is often almost as bad. I think it comes down to the reporter being lazy, taking a press release or something one person says, making an attempt to get comments from the opposing side, and that's about it. Investigative journalism is pretty rare these days and probalby nonexistent in almost any industry press, not just the adult industry :(

It just seems that in my former career in design and advertising, facts and figures were always checked out before going to print. That just seems to be the way reporting and information is suppose to be published... but, in the porn world, anyone's word for it becomes the God's give truth. Can't anyone be held to a higher standard? Hasn't anyone ever heard of verifiable fact finding and reporting?

Just seems rather odd - that's why I don't trust what I read in the gay rags very often - they remind me too much of the National Enquirer (with some almost XXX rated pics)!

i saw one article about tony and cam. there were several glaring errors that could have been checked with either an email or phone call.

yeah, and when you multiply that by nine years.... the misinformation tends to (I'm looking for a word here)... disseminate

so since this happens to us, and we're by no means anything very important in the scheme of things, does that mean that the hundreds of thousands of other stories, reported events, interviews, "facts" and findings are also incorrect or at least not verified in gay porn and adult industry publications?

very curious...
