Are they allowing adult content?

This seems risky to me...

from what i know there was talk about Adam & Eve, the studio, being among the first to try paypal on adult again and with paypals blessings... So perhaps they are open to select programs in a beta test period or something ?

or they might just be saying "wgaf" and using paypal untill they get caught.. but yea, is a bit risky

Yes I'm sure the Paypal terms of service mentioned something about fines and removal of accounts etc etc if its used for anything adult related.

paypal does process for adult hard goods products, and I have heard they are opening up a bit on certain other sites too. They make deals on an individual site basis, so before popping paypal up as your primary I would get in touch with them :)

good quality one-on-one shows do go for $4.99 to $5.99 a minute... but those are one-on-one private shows. do you offer those?

nope. the big players developed the software for one-on-one private shows and they charge an ungodly amount to license it. I've toyed with the idea of becoming a "studio" with some of the networks, but my members seem to like the "flat rate pricing". The next site I develop will be like that, but thats probably a year away still.

I guess looking at $24.95 recurring for a month's worth of access seems too frickin cheap. I'm going to have to see how far I can push pricing this spring.

that's one way to think of it but your site is really a different business model. remember, big pay per minute sites have guys on ALL the time and at peak times they offer selection. and many of them offer live video chat as a teaser.

there are still many things you can test and tweak to increase your sales and retention so that your site generates more income. raising the price is only one of many options.

You NEED to be VERY careful with this pricing model and have a damn good fraud system. One of my first jobs in the biz was running a live cam show on the PPM model. Not fun!

PPM fraud is only one of the reasons I've never ventured that direction, but yeah, when some guy is expected to bone up and cum when the clock is ticking, and they either can't or drag it out intentionally, I know that pisses people off who are paying by the minute. Chargebacks, refunds and fraud are pretty common.

i'm surprised to hear you say so. i mostly marketed live chicks, and the chargebacks were low and the times were high. i had similar experiences with live guys, but didn't market them that much.

Well, the PPM cam biz pretty much started and took off with girls. I don't know how to say it too delicately, but a girl can jiggle her tits or twiddle herself until a guy gets off and leaves the private chat. There's not much a girl can do to disappoint a viewer. Its not quite the same for guys who are expected to, as I said earlier, "bone up and cum" while the clock is ticking. It is right there in your face if a guy isn't turned on, girls can fake it.

When I had PPM upsells, the refund rate was about 30% on the revenues generated, and my site cancellation rates were about 60%. When I took them out, the cancellation rate on my site dropped 20%, so it wasn't of much benefit to the bottom line, either way. There is just a basic flaw in the PPM model for guys, they are expected to perform in a way that girls don't have to.

If my site wasn't focused on live cams, it would probably be a different story. I'm sure that upsells in a video/pic site are probably profitable. I think I spoil my members by giving them the ability to watch all the live shows with no additional cost, other than the monthly subscription. When they are offered 24/7 PPM cams, they expect them to be included for no additional cost.

Thats very interesting. So they changed policy which of course is a very good thing. I do wonder what made them change their mind.

Probably the sheer amount of money they must be losing out by discriminating against the adult business.

We used PayPal years ago for one of our subscription based sites. It was way back in 2002 or 2003 so I really don't remember the exact set up. I think we were even still using iBill for our primary processor.

If I remember correctly, they changed their policy on adults sites pretty abruptly when they were purchased by Ebay.

Well, with Dan on board. It seems they are taking "look" back at it.

We do pretty well with the ppm site. Since it is a muscle niche site, the focus is not on dick so much as it is flexing/posing with nudity. Certainly members expect a hardon with larger time purchases. As for fraud, we see very little because we do our own checks beyond what CCBill does. $4.99 per minute is the norm in our niche. I am familiar with the site from which that menu above is taken and I have concerns about paypal on something like that. In fact I was discussing this with someone yesterday. If I bought a $169. package today and set up a show for next Monday and they (this site) gets cut off by PayPal, will I get my money back? Looks like trouble just waiting to happen.
