Can you take a look at this page for me? I have a few questions if thats OK.

Are the flash movies loading OK, is the quality OK and does its keep stopping? If you have problems can you please state your connection speed?

The movies got very low votes, but Im thinking that maybe just that being broke straight boys, theyve been seen by surfers already. Im thinking less exposed sponsors would work better.

Also a general review, how can I make it better? How can I get more surfers to click the ad links?

(Please note, if you check the code I know its crappy especially for seo but Ill look at that - I dont mind about seo anyway yet).

Im going to put more text in, maybe about the movies? Or should it be about the site? Also I think the sponsor link needs to be more prominant.

I was thinking about having "related clips" but do you think that would make surfers less like to click to sponsor?

Wouldn't know what to suggest about low vote numbers, I guess it just depends if somebody wants to vote or not.

You could have it so that you have to visit the actual sponsor to view more clips, rather than have them on your page. At least then, they have clicked through. Link to a FHG with the clips or something?

Definitely check out ways to be better SEO.

And, I wouldn't bother with 'related clips'. As you say it will make it less likely that your surfers will visit your sponsor.

By low vote numbers I meant that people rate it low.

Yeah SEO is on the list. Ive never done well with it at all so its not top of the list. I will look at the whole site at some point for seo.

I thnk they vote it low because that guy and that clip has been used in such HUGE amounts. The content from Broke Straight Boys is so spread out and overused on the internet that people are simply bored with it / him.

I'd make the vote and rate less prominent myself, as a low score or lack of score could influence people the wrong way.

Not sure about the 'other clips' portion either. As mentioned, it could delay the surfer from clicking through to the sponsor.

As for SEO, I think the biggest mistake made is to NOT include it when designing the layout and writing the site. SEO is about TEXT, and so if you leave it blank, or not at all, when you do come back to it, you will find that you'll need to adjust the layout to accommodate the SE text.

Simple progression really, H1 tag at top, some support text, fill in your alt tags, and then if needed an H2 with support text as well. Support text is just normal text that utilizes a keyword or phrase in proper sentence structure. It really isn't a huge secret, just a matter of using good English and getting the right copy. And that is the hard part.

Agree, I think the site does sell well still its just that the promotional material is a bit overused. Maybe they dont have those guys on the tour.

the clip wasn't that sharp, and it did pause for me a couple times - i'm on an 8 Mbps line. but also that particular clip has no variety, no closeups. it does zoom in a tiny bit, but perhaps something with more action or variety of shots would be more interesting.

Right, thats a good point. I do need to be carefull when choosing the actual clips.

As for quality, I dont fully understand how all this works, but I can encode it at a higher rate but that would make it more slow to stream. Or do you think just choosing better videos in the first place will solve that issue?

well, as far as encoding at a higher rate, i am pondering that ( see here http://www.gaydemon.biz/showthread.php?t=474 ) but starting out with better quality source video will tend to look better than lower quality source video.

you say that this video got low votes. can you show us some videos that got high votes so we can compare yours with theirs?

Actually, no I don't think I would. I mean to begin with, not a lot of people bother to use them, but those that do usually are reflective of what others aren't saying. It could be a good way to aid in determining whether to keep a sponsor or not, or in choosing what to use to promote them with.

That said, I would make it a lot smaller, and try to place it under the video clip. Position of these things can also determine the number of clicks.

I see what you mean I think. The layout is going to take some thought. I was thinking about adding comments but last time I tried that I got a ton of spam. I think wil have to be moderated. But I could then put the voting there I guess.
