how do you pick new domains?

i tend to only get domains for a particular purpose - with 1 exception. i don't domain shop until i have a new project on the way or at least an idea for a project.

how about you - are you a domain-a-holic, a domain planner or ???

Oh man, I have WAY more domains than I need. At my current rate of launching sites, it would take me like 60 years to use all my domains. Am a total domain addict. I have almost 800 domains and only 40 or so live sites. Each one was purchased with a specific project in mind.

I usually go with a descriptive domain which contains 1 or 2 keywords for that project. Like gaytoplists.com or hugegaytgp.com

But I also have some like sexypriest.com and dickshark.com too. Just a catchy name that I though would work well. Most are for blogs.

I start with what I have in mind for a domain, sometimes I get distracted and buy many, sometimes I just buy one or two. I also use some of the suggestion tools like domaintools.com to help if something is already registered.

Beyond that I am a "domain junkie". I grab domains with a way to develop it in mind. Some are real easy to develop while others are real tough. But with domains at such a low price, even sticking the default WP theme on a domain and writing a couple posts I can give it some Google history and make my $10 back many times over.

I agree with you 1 million percent! LOL

I just bought a domain name with a blog already on it off of GFY for 20 bucks, I have only had it for a month, and it has already made me almost 500 bucks in the first month, just by changing it around a bit, and optimizing it for google more.
