Strongbox Script

Wondering if i can get some feedback on this strongbox script i keep seeing alot about,
how does everyone like it
does it work real well with ccbill
how about with people who travel with laptops etc and using the site from different ip addresses?

We use it, and love it.... it has reduced our bandwidth suck substantially.

No problems, usually, except for customers who cannot follow simple directions.

Strongbox is rock solid. It's smart enough to tell the difference between users that login from multiple locations and password sharing. It's been around for a long time, and Ray Morris, who wrote it and supports it, is probably one of the sharpest coders around; I believe that his product is way more sophisticated in what it does than any of the other, far more heavily marked solutions.

It's also very inexpensive for what it does, $150 flat fee, with no upsells. Most of the other solutions are only sold on a monthly-fee basis, so you end up paying thousands of dollars over several years.

I'm sure that the cheerleading squads for the other products (Proxypass, PhantomFrog) will show up and talk about them. Proxypass is decent, but honestly, Strongbox is less expensive (unless you have a ton of websites to protect) and I really believe it's more sophisticated in how it does what it does.

One other thing: We just installed Throttlebox, which is Ray's newest application, on one of our sites. It gracefully limits bandwidth usage per user, separates between videos and stills, has all sorts of rule setting and flexibility, great granular reporting so you can see exactly how much video a given customer is watching, and has already cut down our peak bandwidth usage without pissing off our customers. If you have a volume of members, you may want to consider that as well.

I think Strongbox is great and wouldn't consider running a site without it.

It is one of the best investments I ever made and one of the fastest to pay back dividends.

Not running a security system is just nuts IMHO. We use BlackBox (a custom program because of our server types). As Squirt said...as long as they can follow simple instructions.

Ex: "What do you mean my boyfriend and I can't use the same membership?" "Why can't I watch videos upstairs on my desktop and downstairs on my laptop at the same time?" "What if I want to resell what is left of my subscription to someone else?"

We just installed it about a week ago and it is working great. I literally filled out the registration and payment form at noon and their tech people has it installed by3pm the same day.
