I hope this was a joke and Luke not losing his mind. I am still trying to figure out how to get IE6 back.

I think the biggest joke is the "new" features that microsoft says it will have.

If it is as wonderful as Vista, I'm not even touching it. I fought for a year before finally letting IE7 install.

Regarding IE 8 -

You won't find it on my machine any time soon, although I probably need to find a buddy who has it installed so I can test pages there - thereby benefitting from someone else's greif without having to share it!

I had such an abysmal experience with the first release of SP-2 that I've regressed to WinXP Pro SP-1, which is where I plan to stay...

Unless I move to a Linux setup. Wish someone would write a "decent" browser!

Regarding "back to IE6"

abostonboy:

If you a have "real" (not oem) Windows XP Pro disc, you should be able to run the intallation routine up to the point where it asks you if you want to repair the installation. When it does that, it should regress IE to the version on disc.

Back up first, because it's going to get scary!

Boot from the disc, choose install, don't format, and then when you get the chance to select a partition on which to install install Windows, tell it to repair the installation.

Note this is different from the first repair option that's presented, which will require your system restore floppy diskette.

In case I forgot to say it: BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP!

LOL!

"Automatic Crash Recovery

Automatic Crash Recovery (ACR) is a feature of Windows®Internet Explorer® 8 that can help to prevent the loss of work and productivity in the unlikely event of the browser crashing or hanging. The ACR feature takes advantage of the Loosely-Coupled Internet Explorer feature to provide new crash recovery capabilities, such as tab recovery, which will minimize interruptions to users’ browsing sessions."

If they made the damn thing so it wouldn't crash ALL the time, then no need for this one! UGH!

I quite like FireFox, although I have noticed that its famous memory leak issue has returned in the latest update from a few weeks back.

YUP! And I don't think Vista likes that. FF crashes a lot in Vista.

Poor vista getting a hammering everywhere lol. I am a sucker when it comes to things that look nice!

Sure it has its faults, but they'll be fixed I'm sure.

"Curiosity killed the cat" - I installed IE8 to be nosey and now I'm not sure how to revert back to 7 lol. Anyone have any ideas? :D

OMG! You did that? Look at Ray's post somewhere. You probably have to go back to your install disks. I want so bad to go back to IE6.

D'oh! Never mind, it has an 'emulate IE7' feature, so that's in use at the moment lol.
