Anyone here using a Macbook Pro with bootcamp running XP? I bought my replacement laptop 3 weeks ago and have been having all sorts of issues with wmv video content. If my computer has been running for more than a few hours and I launch a wmv video, it freezes the laptop and eventually ends in a bsod or I have to force a power cycle. I have tried backing out from Windows Media Player 11 back to 9 as I have heard there are wmv problems with WMP11, but that did not help. I am running the lastest version of bootcamp and all apple-supplied drivers. Unfortunately, I found out that NVidea does not release driver updates and officially doesn't even support their cards on laptops. I never had this issue with my previous Macbook Pro running the exact same config, although I did own it for only 2 months.

Any suggestions?

You're aware you don't need to be running Windows to view wmv's, right? You can use Flip4Mac (http://www.flip4mac.com) which makes wmv a supported file format for the QuickTime-based player in OS X.

Yeah, I know, but I don't use OSX at all, I am using windows 100% of the time. I just like the mac hardware as its sleek, lightweight and very sexy :)

Strangely my macbook pro has also stopped playing WMV files recently. I am using OSX. Whereas my mac pro has no problem.
Still scratching my head at the moment. But I will get to the bottom of it.

Interesting that you are using 100% windows on a mac. After moving over to the macs 7 months ago I'm about 90% working on the mac now. I still make my movies on pinnacle on my PC. Soon i'll move that to the macbook pro. I am going to work in Germany for a while so need to be able to work on one machine.
