I'm an iPod virgin. I'm probably the only person on the planet who hasn't download a song from iTunes. However, I'm tired of buying CDs with one or two good songs, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. But I have a couple of questions, so before I spend any more money, I'm hoping someone can answer them for me.
If I buy and download a song in iTunes can I burn it to a CD?
Can I download the songs to a non iPod MP3 player. I don't have an iPod. After my partner's got the dreaded freezing disease, I decided to try a Creative Zen, which is quite nice.
Can I download the same song to more than more MP3 player?
Can you listen to samples on iTunes for free? I like a lot of dance music, but as you probably know, some remixes are good, others are crap.
Thanks
Michael

Yes you can. that's a way to strip the apple drm.

Only if you buy mp3 from their itunes plus section which are drm free and better quality

if it has drm you can only play it on ipods which I think there is a limit on how many devices. but I'm not sure about that number..

well each song has a 30 secs sample . ( to preview the song )
and they also have their single of the week . which is a full song free but this can be any genre.
And u can always subscribe to some good podcast remixes which are free.
( I can recommend you some )
Thanks

Any song on your itunes can be recorded to a CD, which will then allow you to rip it to any other player (that's a good hint for iTunes purchases even if they are drm protected)

Thanks for the tips. Sure doesn't seem like an easy process if you own something other than an iPod.

Really? I thought there was a limit to how many times you could burn a song to CD even if it was from a CD copy... unless it was iTunes Plus.
Btw Michael, get an iTouch if you don't need a new phone. They are way more sexy than the iPods although the storage is more limited.

If you don't want to own an iPod or iTouch, I wouldn't bother with iTunes. There are plenty of other places to download legal mp3s... Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody, etc.

why not use something other than itunes? amazon has their own downloader for songs and albums - don't know if you can burn 'em or not. rhapsody lets you fill your player (i use a sansa clip) with drm songs or buy a song or album individually that i believe you can burn.
i have had my rhapsody subscription for years - the rhapsody to go subscriptions allow you to use 3 different mp3 players with it. using various playlists, i can put entire playlists of new songs into my mp3 players in minutes that play for one month. i have different playlists for different moods and workouts. i barely even use the stereo any more, and arie takes his sansa along and plugs it into his car stereo.

Or you could think outside the bun and get something like this... http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/StoreItem.vm&ctl_nbr=2640&siId=3346664&catParentID=7874&scId=7874
It's the sexiest toy in my toy box right now. :D
