Who wants to do one as mentioned before in another thread? Basically we all build a free site together. All you need is some content and be willing to come and show/share what you are doing. Forget design skills. If you have them, it's a plus. If you don't, that's ok as well.

I will be designing some Blake Mason free sites.

Looks like Bjorn is thinking about having the winner(s) be listed on one of the toplists at GayDemon. Though that is not finalized. but when I got a site on the list a few months ago I made like 10 sales to a $35 PPS. So it was worth $350 to me.

If we decide we want to do it (and get enough webmasters), then we can talk about the rules and how we want to do it.

Post here is you are game to spend a little time. Trust me. It wont be a full time job by any means. Maybe a total of three hours. What you will gain is seeing other peoples sites and the reasons that they do what they do as well as constructive critism of your own by other members of the community.

Maybe you can provide content to an affiliate and design one as well. links lists are craving free hosted sites. Would be good to see how one we all design does on the link lists?

To get this going (and like Lloyd mentioned).. We need some prizes. So here are what you get:

The 2 best free sites will get a free listing on gaydemon at a prime position:

No 1. Best site gets a 2 months listing

No 2. The runner up / 2nd place gets 1 month listing.

Those positions should be good for a couple of thousands hits!

Actually Im in. My freesites are utter rubbish but this is a great chance learn how to do better sites. Could really help me!

I wouldn't say that... But, I would say that 99.44% of ALL freesites (mine 'specially) are rubbish. Mass-produced, hormone-raised, volume versus quality, yadda...

I think this is a really COOL idea.

I like the buy-in from my competing freesiters - luv y'all, you keep me on my toes
I like the buy-in from a few directory folks - luv y'all, you send me traffic

If we get enough actual participation, we might be able to start something - a "free porn site consortium" - and have the rules established for reference. That way, ANY directory - straight, gay, martian - would have a baseline to consider.

That would certainly be nice, since it would open lots of doors for traffic.

Imagine being able to influence things in a wider aspect - perhaps get the standard accepted by places like www.thelinksmachine.com.

Natch, there are going to be lots of uninspired robot site makers totally pissed - but do we really care?

SUGGESTED RULES:

These are in no way binding, but I'd like to see a baseline... These are a minimum to get sites listed lots of other places.

ADD YOUR OWN OR DEBATE THESE BY POSTING

60 photos (more than 800px wide+tall) or 12 1-minute videos minimum
No Blind or Misleading links
No Hosted Galleries (or content strictly from)
Clear warning page with reciprocal links
No site pop-ups or consoles (sponsor pops and consoles okay)
Nothing "objectionable," no www.asssmoothies.com or www.2fuckedupchicksandacupfullofpoop.com

i am in i do straight ones on the ANS build a thon, I need to see some good gay video sites i hate pic sites to get a good grasp of the rules etc you guys give away so much more, and i have to find a good list of link sites to submit too :) all my gay marketing has been tubes and ad buys so I am lost on gay freesites.

My thought are... design, quality of content, effectivness at selling (not sure how could be measured though). Anyone else?

Ok. Sorry for the "delay". I had a death in the family recently. We are working on this and want some input.

The only rule that I am not that fond of is the 60 pic rule. There are some webmasters that do 30 pic sites and do well. When using sponsor content, sometimes 60 pics can be tough as well. Some sponsors don't allow 60 pics in one site. Opinions?

The MAIN criteria that I would like to see it judged on is it's sales pitch. Or ability to sell a site w/o breaking rules of a link list. I have always felt that paysites "close" the sale, but the better the surfer has been "pre-sold" the site, the easier it is to "close" the sale. That is what I feel is the most important part of a free site. Thoughts?

I think giving people 60 pics makes it less likely youre going to sell.

Your idea is good Abostonboy - how well the site is pre-sold.

I'd like to see some examples, please oh kind free site guru's... of what is considered a good free site, what isn't so those of us who are blonds or are simply thick (like me) can have some visual model to look at, to drool over, and well, just glow... whistle

But in all seriousness, I think it would help if we had some examples with comments on why it is good or bad, to sort of help us figure out what not to do, before we all get bitch slapped in public.. :cry:
