we've been discussing a sort of "how to get your sites listed on gaydemon" forum, so people whose sites don't get posted can find out why not and people who would like to get listed can find out what gets them listed every time.
what forums would you like to see here?

How about lost and found.. Always having trouble getting in contact with site owners and webmasters!

i can see the lost part, but so far most of them have not been found - and we can't call it the lost and lost ;)

Hi. I am up for keeping it simple at first. Here are my suggestions -
1. General Talk forum
2. Member Introductions
3. Announcements
As it grows, maybe add more.

We could do a "Members' Introduction" forum where new members introduce themselves w/ contact info. Then it will be easy to search members of the board.
Basschick is right about the "never being found". Some sites have a static page, "who did this check come from?". Maybe that will help?

How about a TGP section and a blog section. Most boards seem to combine to the 2 into 1 section.
Maybe even a tube section. I have a feeling there is going to be a serious growth in the # of tube sites over the next 6 months/ 1 year.
Just a thought.

I think a TGP and blog section is a good idea too.
I'd also like to see a Buy and Sell section where members could advertise stuff like domains for sale, or offer their services for sale.

I think something basic and simple, like GFY has, IMHO some boards have way too many sections. Maybe a general, buy/sell, tgp/blog, and an announcements one.
I would keep the member introductions in the main category.

I would also maybe add a GayDemon support forum, where people can ask about getting listed, and questions they have about rejections :)

Damn good idea. It may not be the busiest forum in the world, but it will match buyers and sellers.

Its really a great thing, when I go to GFY, that is the first forum that I visit, and I visit it most often. It would be a great asset!

I agree. Blog specially is a whole big movement now, even so much so that people do blogs rather than free / avs sites.

blog and tgp forum added :) i admit that i'd like to see tutorials here - would they appear in their own section or simply on the appropriate forum?

I think for now, the number of forums should be kept to a minimum. Spreading the posts out over 10 sections for a new board could really make a board appear dead to new users.
Also, GWW, IMO has WAYYYY to many sections, I hate it, I would rather see just a small number. Tutorials, why not when people submit them as a post, just take those and put it into HTML, and make a tutorial page, linking back to the post where people can see all of the comment for it.

that makes sense... or there's a blog feature built into the board. perhaps we could use that to store them all.

No lost and found, lets keep this board to the minimum amount of forums. GWW has demonstrated too many for the traffic. GMS has demonstrated too few for the traffic. I say copy GFY (well not the drama), they really had a great layout for forums.

well, some boards like greenguy can support that many forums... but i agree we should keep it fairly lean and mean here.

I'm all for keeping it simple. I rarely check anything other than the main forum on any board.

I REALLY like the Buy and Sell forum. Could be a good place for writers to post sample works and get some jobs as well. Would be nice to see them in their own forum. That is the only reason I goto gfy.

so what would we call a buy and sell forum that includes services?
Buy, Sell and Webmaster Services?
The Want Ads?
Buy and Sell (with a description including webmasters services)?

I would just say buy and sell forum, then in the description write out what it is all about, after all, people do buy and sell services :)

I vote for a separate TGP forum, GWC used to be a great place for gay TGP site owners, but its died recently - I bet this forum could pick up that crowd pretty quickly if its done right!

I REALLY don't feel that the blog and TGP forum should be one. The only thing remotely similiar between the two is trades. Even those are done differently. If you are going to put TGPs and Blogs in one forum you might as well call it a traffic forum.

How about a "watch out for yadda" forum, where you can post payment troubles and so forth?
This might even draw in more wm traffic once word gets out.
(Don't start yelling, of course it would have to have stringent posting rules!)

my question - would enough people post in separate tgp and blog forums to make them useful?
i mean, i myself would like to see a paysite board where paysite owners can get advice, trade ideas and so on. again, the question is would enough people post in it.
any thoughts?

Well. It just seems that blogs and TGPs have very little in common. I have no idea why other board lump them together. If You say blogs and tgps you might as well add link lists and others...
I think blogging is very different than tgps. Sometimes it not so much how many will post to make it big, but how easy it is to find the info. Since they are already separate from the main forum, does it really matter how many will post in each section?
I WOULD like to see this board attract even straight webmasters that are looking for information. I know I lurk at Netpond and GreenGuy and Jim only because some of the forums are on their own. The blogging forum at Netpond is a good example. However if it was a blogging/tgp forum I am not sure I would care to lurk as I have no interest in TGPs and having it lumped in a blogging forum where the info is totally different just doesn't make sense to me.

I would like to agree, that a blog & tgp forum be separate, but i'd like to see a techie one, where techie questions can be asked, answered. While not a huge draw, it can help those of us with limited techie skills.
my 2 cents
