View Full Version : Are there blogs/forums that allow directories to post their teasers?

I was talking to someone who runs a directory site and he said that he wanted to get traffic by finding a website/forum/blog that will allow him to post a site update that will link back to his directory.
Meaning, if Sean Cody had an update. he would post the update on this website/forum/blog that, when someone clicked on it, would take them back to his directory.
My first thought was, "good luck with that!" because I can't imagine anyone paying for bandwidth so others can reap the benefits. Especially since multiple people could post the same update.
However, it is very likely that I'm wrong as I don't know all aspects of this industry. So, I thought I'd check here.
Anyone know of such a beast?

No. I don't know anyone who would do that unless they are going form better SERP results. I have linked back to Wikipedia many times and I am sure gave some traffic away.

That sounds very much like wishful thinking. Why would anyone want to list post on a site about another site. The value of such a link to any visitor would be 0, if you click it you dont get to see the actual site with the update instead someone elses site.
Not only that but to me that sounds very much like copyright theft if you look closer at it. He is benefiting with his own site by someone elses work, promoting your own site using others text isnt a good idea.
Its a bit similiar to what a guy did to me and my blog. He used my RSS feed to publish my content on his site while linking to his own sponsors.
I think he got to be careful with how he uses others content.

Bjorn,
Do you think my linking to Wikipedia is ok? I only do it to try and become an authority.
I find when I link to pages like urban dictionary, wikipeadia, quote gay.com, or some other blogs that have ping backs set then i do better.
Probably the closest to what you want to do is to signup with directory sites that use the dynamic feedlist. When you update your blog site, the titles of your posts will automatically show up on the directory site within a few hours.
IE: www.gayxxxblogs.com and www.gayblogfinder.com
I know Luke has some as well, but for the love of g*d I can't think of the urls at the moment.
Anyone WANTING a dynamic feedlist site: www.myfeedlist.com
Tip: put it to your own domain once you get it built, and I'd also signup using an email address of the actual domain, as that becomes your account for that directory and all requests will funnel through that email. If you use an actual domain email, rather than a catchall, you'll find it easier to sort out what site account needs requests filled if you run more than one feedlist.
