The latest fad around seems to be blog automation ie use a program to aggregate rss feeds and throw the results up on a blog and !!voila!! u have a money maker (aside from the little matter of traffic but that's a topic for another post whistle )

so i says to myself, says i 'that sounds like a great idea!' and start doing some research on available rss feeds.

now here's the question: is it just me or most of the rss feeds available to affliates just plain crap? .... a couple of teeny tiny pics and if you're lucky a line or two of lame copy (my bud came over and we fucked liked bunnies... ugh!)

and, of course, every sponsor offers a different style of feed which means that some of these automated blogs lack consistency at the very best with one posting made up of a couple of tiny pics followed by post with a big pic etc.

that seems to me to defeat the purpose of rss feeds.

now i know there're programs out there that leech a sponsor's FHGs and format etc but again doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of rss feeds?

it seems to me that at the end of the day the best blog - the one that's going to keep surfers cumming again and again - is the handwritten one.

Am i right or wrong?

I think it depends on each person. Myself, I prefer the handwritten entry, rather than all this automated stuff. I find I can give better information, than the automated programs. Yet on the other hand, one person can only do so much. I think it comes down to how important your blog is to you, to your surfers, as well as how much income you expect from it.

I am not a fan of RSS feeds, though it seems to be the current fad or flavor.

I also worry about the duplicate content risk that feeds can generate.:bang:

This is what I sort of tried to ask in my post about RSS feeds.

I did wonder what the quality of feeds would be like, from what I seen previously the feeds on offer / sponsors with feeds is very limited.

My second thought was that most of the content would come all from the same providers or sites. There seems to be a few larger programs who got these feeds up and running (not anyone on this board), but also pumping out lots of content. All much the same though.

Which of course means you end up with lots of the same content of low quality.

I am too picky with blogs. My pics all have to be the same width. So RSS feeds do nothing for me.

Before starting our RSS feeds, I got feedback and suggestions from the community and listened to them. Our pics are big and crisp, we load our text with keywords and write text that makes sense, we rotate the upsell sites plus content type (eg, linking to a FHG or to a video page or to a flash video or direct, etc) and we update every few days and update different feeds on different days.

Are there RSS feeds where you can change the pic size. I am so damn anal that all my pics HAVE to be the same width otherwise i wont us them. Or is this impossible?

I noticed! Seems like you are doing it properly compared to others. The compaines I thought about which i wont mention here are the really big boys we all know very well..

Yeah thats another thing, both too small but worse really big pictures can break a blog design real easy.

have you tried using a morphing tool, like the one in BlogsOrganizer, where you search for <img and replace it with <img width="200"

I love BlogsOrganizer. (http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=tradenet&page=http://bo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/) Great tool.

I also use: Gallery Scraper too. (http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/affiliates/click.php?ref=tradenet&page=http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/gs/)
