a Q&A type of thing that I want to add to our site -
I've got so many people that write to "Dear Daddy" (and Cam too) re: how much they love what we do... looks like so much fun... how can they do the same?
or
how do they get tested for HIV and where and won't the whole world know, etc...?
or
can we offer some bodybuilding/training advice?
or
how far should they go with S&M practices?
and even
do I have any good family recipes...for Chicken cacciatore...
I'm thinking this is a great opportunity for us to reach out and touch these guys, offer some of our "masters" advice toward life and living and get some more traffic ? so is this another blog type of thing or what? or do I open our blog up to comments or what do you think?
I'm can be so myopic sometimes and feel caged in... Cam, where' the key?

how about a FAQ, or keep it personal and call it Dear Daddy

Sounds like a good premise for a moderated forum. You can even add those educational "how to's" we talked about a while back to create link bait.

Yes FAQ is a good idea.
Opening up comments will also mean a lot of spam unless you got good filters.
A FAQ is also easier to read with everything in one place.

yeah, that was a good idea Tom but we never took into account how much time that would take us in terms of shoots, editing and everything else involved... and we're SO busy my head feels like its going to explode like a tightly squeezed tube of lube!
I'm thinking the faq notion is a good and easy, less complicated thing - maybe?
I mean maybe at Christmas, all the good boys can come on over and sit on my knee (or something) and tell me what they want for Christmas or something - is a live cam to much trouble? I know - Cam is looking at me and saying "huh? already want to replace me?" and I'm saying, "no dear... now go back to sorting the inventory for our new store!"

i like the idea of a FAQ, but i'd be a little careful about giving advice, also - or at least have a lawyer write a disclaimer.

I call it a GREAT way to keep the obscenity police off your ass.
By building your site into even more of a community, it would be hard for them to pass judgement when "taken as a whole". (You know, the whole lacking artistic or community value bit.)
Great idea guys.

thanks!
I think my entire life has a giant disclaimer stamped on it some times - I mean that I'm always so fucking restricted in what I write and how I say things - thanks to VISA and others.... ! but, we get around it and move forward through it all somehow - we'll see what I can do with this thingie faq - Tony's brain vomit - whatever...!

I am more advocating a textual version of what we talked about earlier. I sort of gathered you didn't have the time to pursue the full version, but a textual format of how to's maybe with a few photos thrown in would provide a nice resource that people would be linking to, and thus increase your PR, your inbound traffic, your SE positioning, etc.

An FAQ section would not really have the interactivity element or the "personal" element about it that a forum would have. On a low volume forum all it would take is a few minutes a day to review posts, clean up any spam, etc. The rewards for the SE value of the forum, and perhaps at how to section of articles as a category in the forum, along with a "Ask Daddy" section, etc., would provide a nice link baiting function. True the FAQ would do some of that, but I think any "Ask Daddy" section would need to be more personal than just an FAQ section. If the poser of the question got a one on one discussion with you on his question, that would make him more inclined to be a longer term "customer" or "potential customer" and certainly inclined to be a good word of mouth advertiser. Whereas, if you just updated an FAQ section to include his answer, that's not near as personal and while having some positive effect to me would be leaving out some of the obvious benefits of a live forum.
As to the issue of spam bots on a forum, as stated in another thread, using Vbulletin as the forum script engine with it's anti spam modules and filters would keep most of that at bay, and the rest can be filtered out with minimal daily housekeeping.

yeah, I'm seeing what you're saying and its making sense to me and my over-sexed and aging brain - thing is Tom, we actually did quite a few interviews and did get the original project going - but when I realized the time involved (editing alone) and everything else involved, it just looked like another time sucking black hole
btw, when ARE you heading up here to visit? We'll be spending time in LA and SF (and all the CA cities in between) during Gay Pride Month - hopefully we can catch up again soon
