How does Trend Micro know what cookies to delete when it does it auto thing. (Not talking about the scan).

For example, any cookie from double click gets deleted and reported as a "possible threat" or something like that.

Seems like everytime TM updates (which is a few times a day) that they catch random cookies.

Trend Micro has become nearly as disruptive as Norton. It was once a good AV solution but it sure sucks now.

I am beginning to agree a bit on that. I have been having issues with using Thunderbird with it. It randomly asks me if it's ok for TB to connect to the internet to get my mail.

Someone was showing me some TGP galleries that he liked that were on the HUN. Two I couldn't even goto.

Turn off Automatic Updates - just do it in the morning or evening.

Norton 360 is actually pretty good. It runs with low overhead and doesn't hijack your computer as badly as previous versions of the dreaded N did.

Computer Associates used to be good, too, but their AV engine got patched so many times it started consuming huge amounts of CPU.

Has anyone looked into running Windows under a virtual (RAM-based) situation? Seems like this would be a great answer, since you wouldn't need to run any AV on it - everything goes away when you reboot or power off.

I am not even sure you can turn off the updates. It just pops a pop up asking if I want to dl the newest threat protection.
