goto your firefox profile and bookmarks are stored in bookmarks.html (or something like that). Then just goto organize bookmarks _> file _> import from file and browse to that html file. I think there is even a backup somewhere. This has happened to me a few times.
(BTW - One of the beauties of FF is it stores bookmarks in an html file, which many times is easier loading on the browser than just going through the bookmarks. It's like its own mini directory!)

p.s. before you do that make sure you didn't switch to another profile by mistake. My ex bf use to do that all the time when he didn't want me to know what sites he was surfing. (He was a Manhunt addict). I thought I lost all mine a few times. Bastard!

This is another file you should always back up as part of your regular routine. A couple of times Opera has overwritten my bookmarks file, and the backup file that it stores automatically, with an empty version. If I didn't have backups that would be ten years of bookmarks gone!
I suspect that Firefox 2.0.0.14 isn't storing my log in details the way it should as I keep having to enter them. So maybe there's a bug?

Thanks for the advice, unfortuately though I think what DirtyRatStudios said has happen. It must have installed a blank bookmarks file when it updated last or something because when I went to that file, it only had a few Mozilla bookmarks. Oh and I looked for any backups, but no luck there either.

Thanks, I hadn't in the past but from now on I definitely will.OMG 10 years would be a lot to loose. :-O

Make sure you are looking in the right place. FF installs them in two spots...

Say good bye to your bookmarks, same thing happened with me, but instead it was all my passwords that disappeared. There was no way to get them back. They were just gone ... no new profile, nothing anyone suggested worked ... gone.

It's happened to me twice. BOTH times I thought I lost them. Michael probably had his as well. I have no idea why FF stores them in two place. One is always empty.

You could use something like this to make a regular backup of those kind of files:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/cobbackup.html
I was disorganised when I was in my 20's. But getting older and running my business has changed that :-) The first year I ever did my accounts (1990) taught me a lesson because everything was such a mess :D
Now I'm quite meticulous about recording stuff details like log ins, in a plain text file in case of disasters.

Don't want to hijack, but...... ;)
I have been looking for some free backup software for ages. I just tried this out and it is absolutely perfect! Thanks DirtyRatStudios! :D
