I just realized. That if you use CCbill's geo-ip and want to be totally honest with your customer's there is no way you can list the price of your site anywhere until they hit the join form.

Even if you say the price is $24.95 US and 24,95 Euro, it still wont work. All a surfer has to do is click the US flag to get the US price in their country and the Euro to get the Euro price in their country. And BOTH numbers are going to be different depending on what country you are in.

So basically, you really have to tell non US customers they are paying more before they hit the join form to be totally honest with them.

So, it may look like this:

$24.95 for a one month membership (US customers)
All others: Price may vary depending on where you live.

i agree... the fact that they also just turned it on for all their clients is fucked up... We never asked for it to be turned on and had a very frustrating experience trying to get it removed again..

I personally dont want them to geo target my customers, if i wanted that done i would do it my freaking self!.

They (CCBill) could provide a feed script, which gives the current exchange rate and calculates the price in the consumers currency of choice. That wouldn't be too hard to program, and if they provided cut and paste code, it would be simple to implement for website owners and even review sites. If you then geoip it it would be fair and simple - assuming that the exchange rates are fair.

This technology has the potential to really benefit consumers if done correctly. But its the processors responsibility to provide tools like this (after all we cant possible know the current exchange rates as I'm guessing its continually updated). Also most website owners are not programmers - they must have programmers on staff to code a cut and paste solution.

I saw a few posts on gfy a few weeks ago on this. Everyone agreed that you simply can not post your pricing.

I mentioned this a couple of weeks back with regards to writing reviews. As a Canadian, I can't even get the real US dollar base rate. And with fluctuating exchange rates, I'm not interested in putting anything but the original rate a site charges in their home currency.

With CCbill you can. Click the US Flag on the join page. IT will be damn close. If it's 29.96, chances are it's 29.95

We just explain that there are various prices for different payment options. When they select their payment option, it shows the the choices under that option. Works great for us.

I always assume that porn site memberships are priced in USD. Unfortunately the USD is not worth as much as it used to be. If it gets any lower I might change to Aussie dollars.
