Since it's come up, here's our official mission statement:

At Gaydemon.Biz, we're not looking to be the biggest and we're not looking for drama - period. We're looking for a place where we're comfortable doing business. Those who feel the same are very welcome to join us.

Board drama is when people are rude or bullying to other posters, disrespectful of others' opinions or make shocking or untrue posts about a company or person for the sake of getting the community stirred up. We started Gaydemon as a place where webmasters and others in the adult industry can post in a secure, non-dramatic environment, and we hope you'll help us make this a great place to be!

Mmmm, I know where you are coming from, but feel you will have to define "drama" at some point or other. Discussions on sensitive topics always get heated (although name calling and insults aren't necessary) - so what is "drama" exactly?

The people you want here are the ones who don't need to read a mission statement to know how to be polite & helpful to each other. Anyone needing a mission statement to define their behavior isn't gonna "get it" anyway... lol

Good point! But I think it separates this board from many others purely by the fact that they are working to set the guidelines right from the start. I like that approach... I know where I stand and I know the standards expected of everyone who posts.

Sounds great to me. I try to avoid drama and drama and stupid posts really turns me off doing much biz on message boards.

Sorry if I seem like a demanding ass (or arse as we Brits like to spell it!) but from the initial vibes I get here, this is going to be one hell of a board. I would simply and humbly suggest that you never take the "Rules" off sticky, define Drama for those who need it clarified and then you'll never find yourselves being off-side - neither will your sensible contributors unless they make a genuine mistake!

seems like good advice. we'll have to come up with a definition of drama that is clear.

btw, unless someone is really in rare form, i'll always talk to community members by pm if there's a problem. that way a genuine mistake won't cause embarrassment.

Now there's a voice of wisdom and reason... can you feel the love and common sense here? I sure can ;-)

Right, that's enough from my own personal point of view... let's get down to business!

Oops, one last thing, can you less us know in the rules how long we have to edit a post?

Many thanks

Adam

I am confident that we are ALL aware of what is Drama, and what is just heated and vibrant debate. And for those that are not, I am confident that they will quickly find out.

I am excited about this board! 666

Often hard to define I agree. Where people can debate and discuss without being malicious would be my definition. :) I'm sure much good advice and helpful topics will arise here.

DRAMA DEFINED!

It's really quite simple.

When you make a post ask yourself the following questions:

1. Am I being professional?
2. Am I being respectful (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/respectful)?
3. Am I contributing to the topic in a way that is constructive? (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/constructive)

If you answered no, then you maybe considered one that is a "drama queen".

Seriously, heated discussions will always come up. To some, they will feel that it's just "drama." That's part of life.

IMHO, "drama" is any post that I or anyone else makes where we are not professional, respectful, and don't contribute in a way that is constructive to the topic at hand.
