A little confused. I have heard some say that you can get a PR3 in a couple of months, though I have never been able to get a 3 in a couple of months.

So, what is the correlation between age of site and PR?

I am not sure if age really matters. If you're lucky and gain much trust before the 1st google dance - you can get a PR3 in a few months indeed. It happened to some of my blogs before. Never had a PR4 after such short period.

I don't think it has much to do with age, but links. I have had sites that go to PR3 at the first update they go through, some have stayed zero, and some have gone to 1 or 2, it just depends on the incoming links and the quality of those links.

i had a site that was trading hits - it got to pr3 in under a week. perhaps the luck of the draw...

Exactly, when it comes to PR i think its simply down to who links to you.

Age always helps in general for SE traffic and ranking but not for a straight forward PR value. You can have been around for years and years but still have a PR1 or 0 if you got no incoming links.

The age of the domain is one of the values in TrustRank. TrustRank is one of the many factors in Toolbar PageRank, so yes, age can affect TBPR... But there are many other factors as well.

The issue of trust is incredibly important these days. It's one of the biggest determinants of "authority" which is what really gets you to the top of the SERPs for competitive terms. A clean track record over many years factors into that in a big way. So yes, the age of the domain is very important (as is it's history)...

TBPR is updated every 3 to 6 months, so Basschick was just lucky to see results quickly...

Personally, I had a non-porn site go to PR6 on the first round of updates, but it had tons of links from a reputable PR7 harvard.edu site as some of its only inbound links, so it was seen as an extention of that site. A porn site with tons of links from questionable directories will have a very different initial experience.
