What are people like Gay Demon going to do? I assume you know have to re check a whole loads of fetish sites to make sure certain content isnt there?
The main type of content that will be illegal from May 8th (according to that site) are:
An act which threatens or appears to threaten a person's life
An act which results in or appears to result in serious injury to a person's anus, breasts or genitals
An act which involves or appears to involve sexual interference with a human corpse
A person performing or appearing to perform an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal
Its the second point thats of most concern. Some of the devices used in fetish content could be percieved that way.

I will have to let Bjorn answer that really.
My opinion is that the government are going too far with this. Too much left open to interpretation.

Really, really broad.
What is "serious injury"? An enormous guy (or dildo) topping a guy who is really tight could easily result in a little bit of bleeding. Cockrings used improperly can cut off circulation and cause problems. Nipple clamps can cause serious bruising.
And the "appears to" in all of the conditions is particuarly concerning. I'd say that the top one eliminates about 90% of Hollywood action films made in the past 30 years.

"But he denies the law has not been thoroughly considered and maintains it will only affect images that are "grossly offensive and disgusting"."
This may result in the police raiding people's homes in the way they used to (until the 1990's) when they suspected more than two men were having sex together.
Despite the lame reassurances, we all know that there will be plenty of religious right-wing police who will be only too happy to try and apply this law at every opportunity.
Chip's point is interesting too. Does the law only apply to sex scenes?

Well as you all know I am the owner of one of the FETISH websites based here in the UK.And I can tell you - I really am not worried at all by this new law.
We are talking about REAL extreme porn here, stuff that is so violent that visa, ccbill, epoch, verotel (etc) - i.e. the normal respectable cc processors we all work with wouldn't accept anyway.
So the risk of any of us (or you affiliates) working with sites containing that is very, very small.
However - I do believe this law is a bad law. It prohibits people to "do in their bedroom" what they want. We all know that gay men used to be persecuted through similar laws.
I also find it outrageous that people can be taken to court for having sexual images at home that "APPEAR" to depict something - like threaten a person's life - when just now Grand Theft Auto 4 was released.
Kids nowadays kill each other on the streets and in schools after playing violent computer games, but nothing is done about that.
This law is clearly a law that is made by the "NORMAL" straight majority - the majority that frowns upon anyone that is different.
We will see what the future brings though. At the moment I am not worried.

Back in the '80's it sometimes felt as if the police had a full time job on their hands lurking on the roof of public toilets, raiding private homes where men in leather were only enjoying tea and cakes, hounding gay sex shops and hassling innocent black men on the street.
I understand that James Anderton, the christian Chief Constable of Greater Manchester police, used to personally supervise raids on the Clone Zone store on Bloom Street ;-D

Maybe if they had focused instead on the real crime. Britain wouldn't be in such a mess today? Of course, much easier to hassle a few homos than deal with gangsters ;-)

Nothing really changes for producers, other laws that are already in place apply to them.
This law is aimed at consumers and possession of porn. If it’s the people who actually buy and enjoy porn that could potentially get in trouble.
Basically, if you got pictures or videos of anything that this law might be aimed at in your possession then yes it’s possible you could get prosecuted. The law is so vague that it could be applied to a lot of things.
For example, if you would go to the world famous Torture Gardens in London, one of the greatest fetish events in Europe and took a photo there.. Well you could be prosecuted under this law.
It’s a totally fucked up law, yet again Britain is scoring another stupidity point. It’s against any common sense and in straight contradiction against free speech.
Funny enough this bill and law was pushed through by someone who had to leave government because of his own sordid affairs.
Yet another reason why I would want to leave the UK. It's a country ruled and managed by complete incompetent idiots.
Give power back to the Queen is what I say!
In my case, on gaydemon. I could in theory sell any of the content on gaydemon that this applies to, as long as I don't posses any of it (which is already how i sell everything, i own or have no content).

The Police don't deal with real crime in England, it’s far too dangerous.

The police are merely pawns the government push around to influence their statistics, which they feed through to us all as utter bullshit.

I think thats a little unfair. Ive needed the Police a few times and they have been great. Its the courts that dont hand out punishment to fit the crime.
The Police have been good to me on the few occasions that Ive needed their help. They do a tough job, and it must be demoralising to find a criminal, get the evidence, then have the courts give them a slap on the wrist.

Hehe, yes he is. And he complains all too often that they spend all day following up a crime, collating the evidence etc all for the CPS to say "no further action".
So, marcjacob is right, its higher forces at play. If the government want to brag they have been dealing well with drugs, they tell the police to go out and get at least 5 drug offenses in their shift. If they don't meet the targets they get diciplined. If they want to say burglaries are down, they write them up as something different. Its incredibly corrupt and unjust.
But what the hell can we do. We don't live in a democracy at all. Our fat old shit MPs make all the rules and we just have to put up with them. Rather than one dictator like Iraq had, we have several!

The UK is just a fucking joke full stop....
The government should be held accountable for rapeing and fucking all the innocent people of the UK over and over again with with half arsed laws, tax and bullshit...
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" ...
And by doG do we have some sinners in places of power!
I had better stop there......
RE: Police ... OMG , I know plenty of them personally, Most commit more offenses off duty on a weekend than we would do in a month.. The only guys I hold any respect for is the "Rozzers" as they are nearly all ex-armed forces and are still in touch with reality, Its just a different uniform to most of those guys....
But then again if they get the order to stomp though your house looking for fetish pics of you engaging in sexual acts that the likes of some will be prosecuted for then there is no stopping these guys, It is a work order plain and simple..
The citizens of the UK are going to get fucked over time and time again.. because overall the majority just bend over and take it !..
As for turning power over to the Queen ... I don't think she would accept .. I mean then she would have to work for her money !
What we really need is a true Yorkshire man in power.. That will set it all straight LOL ;)
