What's the matter with these people? Why aren't they buying porn in the last 5-6 days? Is it due to the memorial day in the USA or something else?

I had three days with absolutely NOTHING as well - and traffic was steady

I noticed a slight decrease in traffic 2 days ago, but nothing significant. Sales suck really bad though.

May has been very patchy for sales. Many people noticed that. But all in all, May was relatively good for me.

However, I don't like the general trend towards too erratic sales. One can't predict and plan much.

It's a holiday in the US, typically camping/outdoors/first weekend of summer sort of thing. Like most holidays, I think people will get sick of their family sooner or later and go buy porn.

My sales so far this weekend have been up and down, but averaged about the same as the rest of the month. I have noticed some big sales go through - one person even bought a year-long membership to a site. So I think the loners who don't have friends and family to spend time with will make up for the people who are busy and out-of-town...

I think you're right. My traffic is down a bit, but sales are pretty much the same.

Could this be the beginning of the fabled "Summer Slowdown"?

If it gets much slower then we're gonna have to pay sponsors to not get sold :\

well no offense to you Ben, but every thread I see from you is about bad sales, have you ever though to just make more sites and not stick with what you got? they aren't going to improve overnight. my sales have been fine all year, each month is better than the next

These eratic patterns "great sales" one day and "lousy sales" the next are a little hard to take.

Poor affiliate sales don't help sponsors to feed themselves, their staff or their models any more than you. Just be thankfull (I assume!) that you don't have to commit quite so much cash each month to all those mouths that keep sites running!

Well, as I said in my previous message, May has been actually good for me. It's just that I find the recent trend for sales fluctuations a bit unnerving because I don't have any second job to rely upon.

I thought others might want to share their thoughts about sales as well. Isn't that one of the purposes of webmaster forums?

If you find my posts about bad sales depressing, I suggest you ignore them.

the whole month has been up and down, but THANKFULLY I had a brilliant weekend with very strong sales numbers, hopefully that will be enough to make May numbers attractive.

I have said this before, but it really is important to step back from your day-to-day stats and look at monthly trends instead. The day-to-day stats will drive anyone fucking nuts! But as long as your monthly stats are consistent or improving, then you are good :)

April was my best month.

May started off really slow and I thought I'd be down 30%.

Things rebounded and I am actually up 5% over April.

It does help that two big bonuses I was not expecting hit in Stats Remote yesterday.

I have my initial round of stats calculated, which includes the number of memberships (but not the $ tallies) and May was stronger than April by 3.2%, but it did not beat March which remains our best ever month.

Just thought I'd add that product sales in the adult world have been hit over the last two weeks too. I had a peak about two weeks ago and saw higher sales than I had before, and then nothing...

Was there some sort of economic bombshell I missed?
And I mean apart from the impending collapse of the $, Euro and £! lol

Just to be clear, Adam, we (at least those of us with a grain of brain) are glad that you DO keep running. Some of us spend fair amounts of money promoting, and realize that you also spend $$.

So, thanks!

FYI, my final dollar stats came through for May and thanks to reduced expenses for the month, we were actually up 6.9% over April, making May our 2nd ever best selling month behind March. Looking forward to seeing June's results.

Yep, May was pretty good for me too.

June started out amazingly well but the last 5-6 days are total crap. Summer slowdown maybe?

Might as well add my two cents....the first few days immediately following Memorial Day really sucked....I just installed Strongbox....so...my first thought.. maybe it wasn't allowing memberships to get through. Of course, that was not the issue. Strongbox has been really great for me.

Then, this week, the sales went right through the roof, it made up for the previous slow week and then blew right past my own predictions.

Go figure..no reason.
