I've done it.. upgraded to Movable Type 4.10. It was hell, still is! I've never had such problems..
It might look nicer (the interface) but instead of making things easy to understand, or work better it feels worse.
So think twice if you are about to upgrade to movable type 4.
Oh and the templates are such a pain, even their own default templates got errors in it.

Makes you wonder if the programmers for all these things are in cahoots to make our lives miserable... WP is about as annoying...
BTW saw some of the changes, it looks nice.. like the sidebar on the right... and the graphic is super.

I dont know..
It seems they have had to "change" their mind and planning a new release 4.15 which changes some new features like the templates.
The new template system was designed to be easy to use. however no one except their developers seems to have been able to use them. So they are creating a while new template system.. again..:bang:

I have never liked MT. However, for a busy blog, it is almost a must have vs. WP.

why is it almost a must have?

MT creates static pages so it's much less server intensive than WP. WP is calling php every time that a sufer clicks.

Why not just use one of the cache plugins for WP to ease the server load?

and its supposed to be a lot more stable plus have a lot of features compared to WP. But never used WP so cant compare it.
I just know that most big brands and companies have their corperate blogs on Movable Type which is why I thought I couldnt go wrong with it.
What I did NOT think of is that they have whole departments of IT guys supporting it.. which of course i do not have..

Interesting that you would mention that Bjorn. I tried MT for a while and really couldn't wrap my head around the way the templates were written. Perhaps if I had have spent a little more time at it I would have eventually learned.
I always seem to go back to WP. All scripts have their own little quarks and whatnot. But even with a difficult WP theme and layout I always seem to manage without pulling TOO much hair out of my head. It's ok, I still have lots to pull out
Hope ya make it ok with this Bjorn. Regardless of the problems you may be having, you really are doing an excellent job my friend. You must have more patience than me because MT drove me totally around the bend in less than two weeks. I found the support not very good at all. The manual was quite of date. As you have mentioned somewhat. There is a TON of support for WP as we all know. Hopefully MT will follow suit soon:D
Keep up the good work Bjorn:cool:

Very simple answer - Almost every update makes my plugins obsolete.
I still feel that MT is the most scalable blogging platform. If you run a very busy blog I believe that MT is more secure and best for a busy site.
