Help needed! 404 error on preview films

Hi all

I am hoping you can help me out here. I changed the preview films on my site yesterday (the links are geo-ip routed to a server closest to the surfer) and I've had two reports of a 404 error.

If you have 2 minutes, please can you test the links at www.blakemason.com/previews.php and www.blakemason.com/affiliates/previews.php and let me know the url you connect to and which country you live in, especially if you get a 404 error?

They came in fine here, and on the url you have typed out for each link, each player opened fine, and buffered quickly. I'm in Ohio.

Note, clicking the image got me to a new page, the 'watch preview' text button got me the 404 pages. The image link seemed to get me to a photo page for the model, not a video clip.

Thanks for the help, I am lost!

I emailed my developer and asked him to take a look... the only thing I can think of is the "unknown geo-IP address" isn't defaulting to any server like it should.

not like I know this field much, but in checking the source code.. the links to the preview are


<a href="filmbiog.php?id=320">shouldn't there be a
"/" before filmblog? if it's in the root?

Might check your source where it works, to see if there is a code difference in the page being shown... and in those places where it isn't. :rolleyes:

maybe you could sort out the videos by browser language instead?

The reason we went down the geo-IP route was because of the major problems being encountered by surfers this side of the pond. All worked beautifully until yesterday, but only for 2 surfers that have emailed me. It's not affecting members, only the preview films... fingers crossed my developer can figure it out.

BUT, some can and some can't... you're all seeing the exact same links... this makes very little sense ;-(

I'm in NYC (Manhattan) on Time Warner Cable (Road Runner) and getting 404s...

members.blakemason.com is resolving to 216.131.127.114 - that should tell you the server with the problem. FYI that IP address resolves to gt90.reliablehosting.com (ironic, eh?).

All the content on www.blakemason.com is working fine - that's resolving to 216.131.85.118.

Everything comes up fine on my Comcast cable connection from Portland, Oregon.

However, I get 404's for the video files on AT&T's Edge network (wireless/cellular).

Hi all

There seems to have been some wierd DNS / IP issues at play here! We think we have sorted them... if you can try the links at www.blakemason.com/previews.php again (you may have to refresh your browser) they should work. The 404 links posted throughout this thread are now dead.
