New attack against Wordpress

We are seeing multiple reports today of Wordpress sites (running their latest version) getting compromised. The initial reports today were restricted only to Dreamhost, but now we are seeing the same pattern on blogs hosted at GoDaddy, Bluehost, Media temple and other places.

So, it doesn't look like something specific to a hosting company. The only thing in similar is that all of them are on shared servers.

Well in reading it, seems it is more about shared server attack, than wordpress. Joomla sites are also being listed as being hacked.

In checking at wordpress, akismet and few others, there is nothing about this so called attack against wordpress.

Not to mention that the link shows this is from last week, though still nothing at Wordpress about it.

And they are still talking about it today.

Maybe due to old Wordpress versions or even a plugin

However it's something to be alert about.
