View Full Version : Paysites that don't update their tours
I've noticed that All American Heroes haven't updated their main tour for many years now. They have regular updates and I think their content is pretty good but what's that good for if they don't showcase it on their tour? How will the potential customers know what they're buying? I've only ever sold their memberships when I promoted a guy/set that actually appears on their tour.
Why did they adopt such a strategy? I don't think it's possible that a static tour always converts better that the regularly updated one no matter how well it did at any point in time.
Perhaps they aren't using a CMS script that has a tour update option.
I've wondered about this myself. Your mention of AAH is a good example, another is Broke Straight Boys. It seems their main tour rarely if ever changes and there is no mention of updates even though we know they update with new content all the time.

Actually BSB does update their tour with updates:

There are a lot of tours that don't though, and I agree, I don't think it's a good long term strategy. It's the reason we've been redoing our tours one by one to make them transparent.

Oh I had not seen that. I guess because it's kind of buried. How many porn surfers are going to go to the "News" link...
So I guess I meant their landing page doesn't show updates (in an obvious way) which I've always found to be rather odd.

some sites that sell very well for me don't update their tours, and some don't. same with those that do update their tours. my personal sales don't show an advantage either way.

Very interesting you mentioned the site. When I read the title, that was the site that instantly popped up in my head.

One of our worst looking sites sebastianpass.com hasn't been updated in over 3 years. (New site revamp is being done as we speak since AmAd has taken over operations of the paysites) The site still sells acquiring 3-4 members per day.
I guess it's all in what's in the tour.
However, we do re-develop both our tours and members areas about every year. (Clean them up, make things easier searchable, etc.). But we are more in the "megasite" genre since we purchase and produce content. So we're not more of your niche site.

All Amercian outsells most sites that do update their tour. Interesting fact there. ;)
I think it's simply because they don't have a good (if any) CMS. And they could easily say, why change something that isn't broken.

Wow, that's interesting. Believe it or not, I have had only two sales so far, and that was more than a year ago when I first started to promote them.
I have no idea why I can't sell them. Granted, I've only pushed them from 2 blogs, not from free and AVS sites.
Although, AVS sales are way down anyway. Blogs are the way to go I think.
Is there any specific type of traffic or marketing strategy that favours military content such as AAH?

Yeah, any gay dude with his dick in one hand and his credit card in the other ;)
Speaking of military... MilitaryClassified.com (http://guysonvideo.com/cgi-bin/jump.cgi?ID=243) sold like crazy for me in the past. It probably still would if I only had the time to promo it... It has to be one of the ugliest designs out there... I mean it looks like it hasn't mean touched since 1998 but it sells and rebills like no other.

did you use the word "military" and sort of write your blog from the point of view of the fact that the guys are military guys?

i've seen many uglier - but it's small, made for 800x600, which drives me nuts. still, good content is hard to argue with.

Kind of makes you wonder, at just what is it, that makes people sign up, when a tour is ugly, or hasn't changed in eons. Are they that horny, or just desperate, or what? :bang:
Maybe it is like politics, people still vote for those who are proven to be liars, crooks, and just down right evil. 666

Yes I did, but I rely too much on the sponsor provided text. I think I should provide more of my own.
Nevertheless, I promote other sponsors in the same way and most of them convert...

Yeah I thought the same ;) but for some reason I can't sell them (which is a real shame).

It's not that ugly... just old design for lower resolution. The content is pretty hot though.
Is there a way to obtain their promo content regularly? I see im my CCBill lounge that I signed up for their affiliate program years ago but probably gave up because they didn't send any promo materials.
