Hey there,
is there a service that allows me to keep the same ip? My DSL company doesn't allow me to buy a static IP and, to be honest, I don't want one them.

I just need something static in order to avoid me to ask the hoster to whitelist my ip too often!

Thank you.
Simon.

I have much the same situation with my home IP for doing backend work on weekends. I find that having a router and leaving it always on and plugged in will keep your IP from ever changing.

Every so often you will have a situation where it changes but for me this is maybe every 6 mos or so.

I have a router and I leave it always plugged too. The problem is that sometimes I it loses connection or I have to turn off the power supply of my house in order to let someone install something. In the last two days we had a big issue with DSL here and I had to restart router almost 20 times :bang:

Ugh...

Yeah my ISP told me that the only way to keep it up is to have the device first on the network to stay online. To my knowledge there is no other way.

I suppose with some fancy work you could set up a fixed proxy and access everything through that so you dont have to worry? Just a shot in the dark, but it could be a solution to look into.

Don't feel bad about asking -- they're used to it and a lot of people cannot get a static IP address.

They'd rather constantly change it than open a security hole by not having to WL an IP.

Having to do that is a part of their business.

I have this issue, as our NATS install has a verified IP system (as in i cant access it away from the entered IP) - Occasionally the router / modem will restart, and my ISP will give me a new IP, which means i cannot access NATS.
