I ran into another weird feature at GMP, My monthly recurring for GMP VIP are at a higher rate then $ 2.00 so when I noticed a site earned me a monthly recurring of $ 2.00 I thought this was a simple mistake and contacted support. This is what I was told:

It is not a monthly recurring earning but a 2 Year renewal of their regular menbership fee, which earns me $ 2.00. After some digging this could be true since on the date the $ 2.00 showed up in my stats, I had a 2 year sale, 2 years ago. However in February 2008, GMP did not have a recurring 1 or 2 year memebrship, this feature was not put in place until July 2008(so how long was GMP actually renewing memberships with out passing the earnings on to us?). And when that new feature was put in place I was assured that ANY renewals would be creditted to the webmaster at the usual 100%. For a while I had renewals show up in my stats under the description Yearly renewals with the correct amount creditted to me. Now they are trying to say that renewals were already being done way before July 2008 and that they only earn us $ 2.00.
Strange is that they show up with the description of Recurring renewals and I would have never noticed the descrepency was it not that for recurring I earn way more then $ 2.00 with them.
So after going back and forth with them, and now being ignored by them, since I backed them in a corner (I have always kept all correspondence with them because they make it a habit to change rules and deny having said things when they feel like it) I decided to put this warning out. We've had several of these strange issues with $ 2.00 recurrings, at first they explaned it as being the wrong amount creditted to me, now it's the yearly renewal explanation. At first the explanation that the wrong amount was creditted, which they corrected, however we found it odd that these recurring only happened for 1 month, they never stayed as most of our recurrings do, now the explanation that the $ 2.00 is for yearly or 2 year renewals, doesn't make any sense. They admit the renewal was done at $ 23.95 (the original sales price) so according to their announcement on July 2008 I should have earned $ 23.95 from that, not $ 2.00.
Just a heads up.

lately GMP made some changes that damage to the webmasters, changed the prices to $4.95, so, you only get $4.95 for the sale, not $19.95 like time ago, this change is why so they get more sales, and then when rebill they get $39.95 for the rebills, and you only get $2
why webmasters need to do GMP sites? this is my question.

You have it partly right, the recurring earnings depend on what they told the webmaster he/she would get, lowest level is $ 2.00 and the top is anything they want to pay you. I get a reasonable amount for the VIP recurring, but now they are renewing GMP 1 and 2 year memberships at the original membership rate (in my case the original sale was at $ 23.95 at which they say they renewed it too) but are now only paying me $ 2.00 not the 100% as was promised and announced, pocketting the remaining $ 21.95, and I'm pretty sure the surfer will also get to enjoy their free week of VIP membership at that time which unless they remember to cancel it will get GMP an additional $ 39.95 per month.

My problem is not with the VIP recurring, although those seem to be totally out of whack too, my problem is with the new feature they announced in July of 2008 where they will automatically renew 1 and 2 year memberships at the time it expires and we get 100% of the sale. Now they say differently.

So beware, if you earn $ 2.00 for VIP recurring, they might report it as a recurring sale (1 time only) and poclet whatever the difference is between the 1 or 2 year sale amount and the $ 2.00 they graceously pay us, and VIP recurring. You will never know since you'll think it's just a $ 2.00payments for a VIP recurring.

I always thought that the AEN's renewed yearly and two year memberships.

remember that you ARE talking about GMP.

let's just say they have a few problems over the last several years.

those more knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the situation would be better able to explain.

Pardon my asking, what is GMP? I know of a site named "Gay Military Pass", but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

An AEN, Global Male Pass is what the acronym stands for, I think whistle

GMP is pretty much dead to me. Since they dropped their pricing to 4.99 it's just not worth bothering with imo. They don't seem to have a clue what they are doing.

Yeah that's exactly my point with this post. I know most webmasters 'only' receive $ 2.00 per VIP recurring so mixing those 1 and 2 year renewals in with that column, won't set off any alarms, when in actuality it was a $ 19.95 or $ 23.95 GMP membership renewal (yes they renew them at the old rate, not the $ 4.95 or whatever the current rate is for 2 year membership. The only way it caught my attention is that I am getting more then $ 2.00 for monthly VIP recurring so it stood out as a sore thumb. Nice little trick, huh?
