Hi there,
Does anyone know of a good program for batch converting WMV files to .3gp and/or .mp4 files?
I've seen several from Google searches but not sure which ones work the best.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hey there,
after some tests VideoCharge has some problems with wmv and .mp4. I think that the best converter so fare is VideoCharge Studio. Basically the same developer of VideoCharge released a compact suite of software. It seems that every issues are gone.

I've been using ImTOO FLV Converter (http://www.imtoo.com/flv-converter.html) for a while now Danny and I really like it. It converts all well known formats from one to the other. Don't let the "FLV" in the title throw you off. Here's an example of a Maskurbate video free site I just finished with Wordpress of all things. The flash videos were rendered in ImTOO FLV using the WMVs supplied by Maskurbate for affiliates - http://www.mygayfreesites.com/masked-men-shoot-their-loads-galleries - Click on any one of the yellow Gallery links.

I am personally using 'Apple Compressor' or 'Autodesk Cleaner' or 'Adobe Media Encoder'

Thanks again. I'm taking the plunge with the Cucusoft Video Converter Suite:
http://www.cucusoft.com/ultimate-dvd-video-converter-suite.asp
Looks like they've got a great special promotion going on and with this package I can convert from/to every format I could possibly need. Thanks Webnet and everyone else for the suggestions!

with cucusoft, which of the programs batch? i downloaded the trial of ultimate video converter, and didn't find the batch option, and their page says the suite batches, but doesn't mention which program does it.

Hey Patti,
From what I can tell, the way you batch is by just manually adding files to the converter. If you have 20 files in one folder on your desktop, you can select them all and then add them to the converter. Then you can select all the files and it will convert them all into the output settings you selected.

A program that i have found useful is Xilisoft
it allows me to add files and add multiple profiles to convert to
i can just keep adding profiles to that one file and it will convert
just another program thought might be of interest

i didn't find xilisoft useful for dialup videos - they are either much larger than the same profile videos made by other programs or the vids look bad. for most videos, it's not bad, though.

If you went to the advanced profiler section you will see you have a lot of control. You do need to go to that section tho just dont settle for the defaults. Also it does need to stay updated for the latest and greatest. But again it is just a matter of preferences. One thing with it you must start of with high quality to maintain the generations of it.

you do have a lot of control, but again - the under 100k videos are different. i've talked back and forth with the xilisoft team about the issue, btw, and they feel it's reasonable.

ooops I missed the "o" it's anyvideoconverter
I've tried cucusoft & xilisoft.
Unless I missed a setting somewhere, the only thing that makes these programs unusable by me is the inability to add a watermark to the output file.
As far as I can tell, I would have to add the watermark to my input file first, forcing me to save multiple copies of these giant files.
Not including back-ups, I've always saved one master copy that does not contain any watermarks. I then add a watermark during the final encoding process.
