Cool little article -

"Blogs have been around long enough to become standard elements of the web landscape. They’re easy to construct and manage, they create fresh, user-generated content and, if well-executed, blogs draw crowds and the attention of search engines. Whether starting out with a new domain name, or a domain that’s been around for a decade, you can rank your blog on Google if you just do what Google wants you to do. So here are 25/50 tips to get your blog ranked by the world’s biggest SE."

i like #27 :)

for the most part those things apply to strictly mainstream blogging. Most of the social aspects of a blog are wasted in adult because people (in general) are rather secretive about their porn and don't spread shit around anywhere near as much as they do with mainstream topics.

I agree with MrJD, we're not talking petunias and humming birds here; our readers are often anonymous.
I followed some simple rules in SEO, and am usually placed in the first 10 Google results on the five keywords I selected.

Always use alt tags, title tags, name your images appropriately, use url rewriting if necessary to clean up your urls and make them descriptive, permalinks should be a-very-good-description-of-your-topic.htm, name your folders appropriatlely (ie: "cute-gay-guys-naked" instead of "img"), etc.

We use that technique at my work, I used it at home. It works!
