So these are the best thieves of them all! They believe they have a right to stealing your images. So much so they want them put back up!

All I can think of is that this is an affiliate who's using your promo content to make blog posts and ... um..

Fuck, people are daft.

No read the last part of the email they were images he liked and wanted to use on his site and now he will have to go and find new ones.

But... what is his site?

I mean... Yeah, he's a complete tool, I'm just wondering what the fuck he's thinking.

I saw someone post something like this almost a year ago here and I actually thought it would be a cold day in hell before I saw it again. It looks as though this type of mindset is more common that we might think.

I'm seeing the mentality that "anything I see on the internet is mine to use for my financial benefit". There's no doubt they are indeed, a total tool. However, I literally think this person honestly believes what they're saying. The legal threat really ices the cake though. Wow. Could you imagine the look on an attorney's face if he approached one in person about this? lol

Was this message sent to you personally? If you don't mind me asking that is.

Like Rdude, I remember someone posting something similar if not identical a while back. This sounds so similar I had to look at this thread's date as I was thinking someone must have reopened a really old post.

I'm thinking it's probably just some kind of spam you were lucky enough to receive. If you respond to it you'll probably get some once-in-a-lifetime special offer from Nigeria or somewhere.

yeah you may have seen this as it was not sent to me!

I love that one, it's so funny. The thing is you do get similiar things like that every so often. People with absolutely no common sense or idea about anything.

"Contact my lawyer," God, that's hysterical.

I was thinking the same thing as Tanker. Respond to the that via e-mail and watch your spm box fill up overnight.

Not sure if it is okay to post these here so feel free to moderate:

Agreed....that is just off the charts absurd. I especially love the part that he thinks he is justified to contact his attorney over that.

A person that files a frivolous lawsuit can also be sued right back for damages and court fees.

Oh that's a clever way of getting people's e-mail addresses.

I love when people say "Im going to contact my lawyer".
They cant afford $5/month to host images, but they can afford $300/hr to sue you.

As if a lawyer would take the case too

If it's an affiliate I can understand hotlinking - after all, hosted FLVs are way bigger and sorta common these days. I did a lot of hotlinking of sponsor images from galleries when I was getting started, but the lesson I learned is that that's not a good way to run a business 'cause sponsors change their galleries and hotlinking was never intended - so it's a newbie mistake... However, even if he was an affiliate (it doesn't seem he is) that letter was just so over the top and confrontational it's absurd.

i've not only seen several of this type of complaint, but have actually talked to 2 guys who were very angry that a site had stopped them from hotlinking images. they have a very distorted way of looking at how the world works, to say the least...

It's a canned message and totally meaningless. Just Google for any string from the text, like this and you'll see it all over the web -
