What do you think of our new hosted blog?

Thanks to RawTop, we have just launched our new hosted blog. It will be replacing 11 other hosted blogs. I would love to know what you think of it.

It's nice except I wouldn't call it a blog. Looks more like a video gallery collection or tube maybe. But I've never been keen on that type of layout. The problem with those are that the bigger images are only available after you click on a smaller thumb. The impact the larger collage can have is lost because you might not choose to go and see it. The smaller image has to catch your attention first...

i also wouldn't call it a blog exactly, more a tube with blog posts under the videos. the design is nice. is the big video at the top the most popular video or ?

It's the theme that Bec came up for the tutorial in blogging, and the top big video is 'featured' but could be whatever one wanted to add to their.

I think it's nice. Certainly quite different in terms of a sponsor blog, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I do like the big collages below the videos. Have you thought about utilising the blog feature to also just show the images, without having to go through each individual video? Then there would be the best of both worlds.. a traditional blog, and a more innovative fake tube type thing.

I used the same theme (modified a bit - using Bec's fake tube tutorial) a while ago to make http://homoflix.com - which is obviously a fake tube. Maybe some sorting features would also be useful - so affiliates/users could sort to find the most viewed videos, as well as the newest. I also quite like having a few more on display, so moved to four in a row. If you want the particular code snippets/plugins for any of this to save time, let me know.

I do think it's a pretty interesting way to go though - and Rawtop usually gets it about right, so I think you're in good hands.

I didn't realize that there was videos actually. I only noticed the big picture collages. I thougth the video was a part of the header and missed it totally. Only after going back and testing it again did I notice its both video and pics.

No need to replace any old links. They will still work.

Let us know how it works for you... We believe it will improve but only the traffic will prove the theory.

Sorry to be jumping in late here (was at Mid-Atlantic Leather this weekend). Old links will continue to work - so there's no requirement to change them. HOWEVER, as we move content from the old sites to the new one the branding will change and if you've linked to categories (like Latinos on Alpha Male Fuckers) those links may redirect to more broad categories on Milk That Bone (e.g. Latinos for all sites).

So, while you don't have to change your links, when you get a chance it may be better if you do since your old link description may not perfectly match the page they land on after the redirect is put in place.

Luke, I know you run a ton of niche blogs. The best part of Milk Your Bone for someone like you is all the new categories. So we can have precise RSS feeds for things like muscle bears (http://www.milkyourbone.com/hot/masculine/muscle/muscle-bears?aff=1196801495-CR116), stocky guys (http://www.milkyourbone.com/hot/regular-guys/stocky?aff=1196801495-CR116), athletic guys (http://www.milkyourbone.com/hot/regular-guys/athletic?aff=1196801495-CR116), skinny guys (http://www.milkyourbone.com/porn/skinny-guys?aff=1196801495-CR116), uncut dicks (http://www.milkyourbone.com/porn/uncut?aff=1196801495-CR116), black guys (http://www.milkyourbone.com/hot/men-of-color/black-guys?aff=1196801495-CR116), bald men (http://www.milkyourbone.com/porn/bald?aff=1196801495-CR116), and so on and so on... And if there's something you need a feed for, just let me know... I've tested the feeds on a WordPress blog with AutoBlogger and they work great (after you do the tweak to AutoBlogger to allow video embeds through).
