If a new site was to open today in 12 months time what do you think the membership base would be?

Been speaking to a few people and they all have very different ideas form the tiny to the massive.

Not that I am actually expecting anyone to every divulge real information so I thought I would do it in a poll.

Just thought it would interesting to know different peoples views.

it depends on a number of things including the niche, the quality of content and frequency of updates, amount of content in the member area, bonus sites, monthly price and the ability of the owner or rep to generate traffic. i know of sites that after a year have 20 active members, others with 100 and others with 1000.

I should have given more of a template for the site.

** Twink site

** Say one update a week with 20 starting vids

** Price $24.00 and re-bills the same

But that is interesting the different number of member stas you know of Brasschick

It sounds like to me that you are asking how many members boynapped should have by now? If that is the case, then it's real hard to say because the site kinda has it's own little niche going on that I have no idea how big that niche is at all.

The question you are asking is very subjective and has many factors that can influence it.

Hey Lloyd not at all I would have just asked the question if it was for BoyNapped we are very happy with our member numbers even more so after the year from hell 2009 was :)

Just found the subject of membership when talking to a few people on ICQ and GFY and the had very different opinions on what size member base they would be getting.

Some expecting to open the doors and would have 1000 members in the first week.

And I expect to one morning wake up and find David Tennant in my bed...but that might not happen.

You and I can open exactly the same site and I could have 2000 members after a year and you could have 38. It all depends on the demand and most importantly the way the site is marketed and placed in the market.

The question is rather like saying "If I get a job, how much money will I make?" A job doing what? With what applicable experience? In what market? So it is very hard to say.

CumGuzzlingMidgetPaperBoys.com will never have as many members as BradPittBlowsGeorgeClooneyWhileMattDamonFistsThemB oth.com Just a fact of the market.

Isn't the real question not how many members you have but how big your profit margin is per membership. Many smaller niche sites probably make far more than huge sites with lots of staff, updates etc due to lower costs and better profit margins. It seems the bigger the company, the smaller profit per membership. Or thats the impression i get.

I've never been keen on number games myself, sites built on numbers and statistics alone often fail, go wrong or end up with a bad product. Personally I always go for quality and were my passion lies. It seems to be safer and end up with a better product.

I think it shows on sites as well. I can't think of any major (mulit-site) sponsor with REALLY good sites. Many have improved over the years but none come close to the smaller operations (like many site owners on this forum).

I voted for 0-499. It depends of course on different things, but it's difficult times now to start and promote a new site, i think.
