that is the question....
How often do you think it's the best to update your blog?
I'm doing one post a day at the same hour everyday (viva the schedule option). But I think I will not be able to keep that rhythm all my life.. LOL

I don't think there is any set criteria of how often, or even when, though at times I wonder if posting at specific times helps, or hinders.
The key is to keep it fresh for your surfers, and if they are used to one a day, then you might get away with the odd miss or two, but not much else.
I think mixing up the times can help, while sticking to a set time, can be a hinderance, or so some argue. Their claim being that if you update at the same time, the Search Engines (SE) might think it is automated or something like that.

I had no idea that automated posts were bad for SEO, I mean, even if they are your own original posts. Thanks for the info.

update schedules really depends on what you are trying to do, if its a news blog then updating daily / several times a day is kewl. If its mainly a splog for seo, linktrades or advertising, once every 2 to 3 days is good.

The most important thing with updates is that you really deliver the number of updates that you claim you are going to do.
Promiss daily updates, if you know you are able to do so. I you can't, then update every 2-3 days for example. Every additional update in between is something extra in the eyes of your surfers.
People will return to your blog in case they know when to expect something fresh. Once a day or once a week, both are fine as long as the updates are consistant.

I shoot for 3 updates a day on the rawTOP porn blog, but I frequently don't achieve that goal - especially midweek. My updating of Wily Willy jumps all over the place. I'd love it if I could consistently have 1 or 2 posts go up every day on that. My other blogs get updates whenever I get to them - maybe one every week or two. Then there's the posts I do for My Gay Cash's hosted blogs. We're working on changing over from one blog per site to one big blog - that blog will have about a post a day.
I will say your organic traffic is largely dependent on how often you update. Freshness is very important for SEO.

That's my understanding and reasoning for aiming at a post a day.
When I say post each day, I personally meaning making technically 3 to 5 posts...but posting them all at once, each day. Each separate, single post promotes a model, or one of my sponsors - but the group (5, 3 or whatever number) of posts is put up together, in this case each day. Is this what everyone is saying, or do you mean one single post per day/2 days, etc.?

1 post, 1 day. Tim, I'd think about not lumping multiple blog posts into one single post, you lose some benefit, by not simply scheduling them for different times of the day, if you really want to have 4 or 5 different posts per day.
If you are doing five posts, blurbs, whatever, definately space them out to go live at various time of the 24 hour clock. After all, it might help attrach those who aren't in your time zone better. Keeps it fresh but unless your site is a news site, seems to me that is way too many posts per day, and you'll burn out.
just my pennies worth
I would burn out. One a day is fine for me. You know, like your daily newspaper, daily walk or whatever - your daily porn seems a part of people's comfy daily routine.

got a point there... I Think Ill stick with 1post a day and try to not doing it at the same time if it's bad for SEO.
Thanks a lot folks for all your comments. It really helps me out!!!
