I've seen several discussions in this forum about rates of conversion, understanding by them the relationship between visitors and sales.

I was wondering what would be for you guys the, say, "rate of pre-conversion" understanding by it the percentage of visitors who go from the tour page to the join page -regardless thay finally buy or not.

I start sharing mine, in my case around 30% of the visitors of the home page click on my "instant access" button and visit the join page.

but a lot of the guys who click to your join page don't mean to be there - every thumb of a model on the bottom of your page links to the join page.

For an affiliate, I guess what counts is click to sales ratio. That is, how many clicks on an affiliate link result in a sale.

Brieflads.com is currently converting at 1/350 overall, which is fair but not great. Niche sites often have lower conversion rates than non-niche sites, I find, generally. But some affiliates get much higher conversions, depending on the type of traffic they have. Underwear-orientated traffic does much better for brieflads, of course.

This should notbe confused with join page to join ratios, or just the proportion who see the join page, which is what is what I think you are quoting as 30%. That tells nothing about sales.

The other statistic that is important but which is not talked about so much is retention ratio. That is, how many joins result in subsequent re-bills. Brieflads.com is currently retaining at about 45%, which is pretty good, I think. Niche sites can get better retention ratios than non-niche sites if they are well done and don't have too much competition, I find.

Yeah, Basschick, you'r right, but the percentage gives you an idea of how many people (in my case, 70%) is not even interested on knowing how much the membership costs. The other 30 is a mix of customers who wanted to know and customers who fell there clicking on a face, as you point out.

Q1sites, you're totally right, I never meant that reaching join page is a conversion (wish it was). 45% is a good retention rate, do you have an estimation of the average life of that retained customer? I.e. that 45% stays in average for a second month or for, say, six?
