The rule that when you have 30 days history you can make 1 announcement every 2 months. Is that main board? And is it main board only. Can I make more frequent "spammy" threads in the spam forum?

Also "buy and sell", is that not for spam? Say for example a designer did a special deal on designs, would that be selling (thus be permitted on the buy and sell forum). Just trying to gauge whats "spam" and whats buying and selling.

Also is it cool to offer link trades and if so which board? TGP and Blogs are obvious but I have other sites I will be trading with the future that dont fit those cats.

(obviously none of its spam if its within the rules but you know what I mean).

if a designer has a deal, that goes in announcements and in the resources section. i can't see any harm in putting it in buy and sell if it's truly a good deal. i'll talk this one over with bjorn and lloyd.

what i'd really like to see is that designer become an active part of the board and then he can also put his deal in his sig and let people know that way.

as far as trades that are not tgp or blog trades, sure - post 'em on the main board. what kind of sites are you talking about? maybe ultimately they will need their own section.

the way i feel about it, a truly active community member is welcome to tell us about big things going on with them and their programs. a non-active member - a rep or owner who mostly posts just to market their stuff - should keep it in announcements.

Marc,

I think the main goal of that rule is to have a way to keep the main forum free of spam. There is a difference between an announcement and something really newsworthy by an active member.

If you change the design of your link list and want to "announce" it in the main forum, go ahead. But if every week someone adds 20 FHG's to their program, then keep it in announcements.

Buy and Sell will never be a big forum, but I have already sold my domain names in there. :) I am happy!

If a designer didn't get paid on a cartoon he did for a client and wanted to sell the design, then that would be a great place. So would someone that was offering writing services for blogs. They can go in and "sell" their service.

Luke loves buying domain names, so Buy and sell I am sure he checks every day. :)
