I'm seeing more and more of those "virtual person" ads coming up at the bottom of people's blogs on a more consistent basis these days. Do these things actually work? I find they slow down the load time quite a bit and sometimes even prevent the blog from loading properly.
What are the click-thru-ratios for those things? lol

Those dancers/strippers do seem to make surfers click. I use those on some of my blogs [as you probably know :)]
This year I am at 1:269 (uniques) which is not bad.
$ per click is rather low with only $0.03.

Interesting. So people do click them huh? I guess it wouldn't all be by accident though as I have accidentally clicked one of them. lol So you're getting sales from them? Cool!
Yes, I noticed you use a few of them, but your blogs aren't too bad for loading up. Some I've seen though slow things right down. Some blogs there is so much to click on that surfers end up clicking things by accident. I guess if the tour or site they're sent to is good enough that could be a good thing! ;)

I can't stand them myself, just adds to all the clutter. But I'm sure people click.

Haven't quite made up mind on those virtual dancers. Some blogs go sooo slow at times, yet others zip along.
The Peel Ads, aren't all that blog friendly I found, but are okay on the more static sites I've used them on.

I click on those by accident myself every now and then (pretty annoying), but I am sure there are a lot of people clicking out of curiousity.
Last year I promised Mary (who then worked for Totemcash) to give it a try and I must say that the results are not disappointing!

Yeah they are really annoying, specially since it's not a one time load, every page you load, there it is telling me a guy is waiting for me wherever I happen to be at that time, yet the pictures of the guys always seem to rotate, I think they are stalkers.

i'm sure they click, but i would expect they would also cause a blog to get less bookmarkers.

I find them very very very VERY annoying. The peels I don't mind so much but I've not done great with them.
With the IM ads you will alienate alot of your surfers imo

Well the majority do seem to find the virtual characters annoying. Basschick is right about getting less bookmarkers I think.
As for the peel ads, I can't see them working very much as far as crt goes. Do they convert at all?
